I was the only one of my brothers to vote. In fact the only one of my whole family. If we, as strong Christians with deeply held values and convictions (supposedly), can’t even rally to vote; particularly given that at least one of my brothers and my dad, keep up relatively well with politics, how in the HELL can we expect anyone else from our generation to care?
They won’t.
They’ll be too busy playing videogames, watching TV, chatting on facebook, hanging out with their friends. I hope and pray I’m wrong for the general election. But what a sad, sad thought.
It wasn’t that long ago that voting was a sense of deep pride for Americans. Not so much anymore. Now it’s a “chore”. And that’s when you know we’re heading to hell in a handbasket.
We have our work cut out for us very much indeed if we are to really get young people engaged in the political process and actually having pride in voting.
