That’s right, Nintendo has given Animal Crossing a name across the pond in the Land of the Rising Sun, a place in which Animal Crossing goes by the much-harder-for-an-American-to-say “Doubutsu no Mori”.
The game was a highlight of Nintendo of Japan’s “Nintendo Direct” conference, where a bunch of news has broken. The name of the game essentially means “Jumping Out” or something to that effect. Which, as you probably guessed, is Nintendo’s way of drawing attention to the stereoscopic, glasses-free 3D nature of the Nintendo 3DS. This is the only Animal Crossing game in which something can “pop out” of the screen at you.
Wireless capabilities were mentioned, but they didn’t go into detail (they being Nintendo President Satoru Iwata). But some new details did emerge… namely that TOM NOOK HAS BEEN REPLACED! Or at least, apparently… seems there’s a new sheriff in town, whom you can see in the pic above (I think). There’s also a new Shoe Shop (shoes? really?) called “Kicks”, and you can see some of the Mayor’s Office and outside your little humble abode in the screenshots.
Animal Crossing: Tobidase will be released this Fall in Japan. We’ll likely get a Western release date at E3 2012 in June.
