Bioshock Infinite has been delayed to a new release date of February 26th, 2013! Many gamers will be crying in the street, for sure.

Irrational Games said the delay of the hotly anticipated, beautiful sequel to Bioshock 2 needed more time to make the game “even more extraordinary”… Apparently they needed quite a bit more development time in the cooker too, as Bioshock Infinite will not be shown at E3 2012 (June 5-7, in Los Angeles, California) nor will it be at the GamesCom 2012 European tradeshow (August 15th-19th, 2012 in Cologne, Germany).

Here’s the amazing Bioshock Infinite Debut Trailer.

Often times, during tradeshows, developers have to take time from actually making the game to appear at these shows. They must pump resources into creating a playable build for the tradeshow, creating an indepth trailer, paying staffers to man the booths, give talks, give interviews, and show up at the big conferences that the console manufacturers or publishers put on. Refusing to do attend ensures that Irrational will get that much more time actually creating the game.

Here is an indepth look at Bioshock Infinite with producer Ken Levine and the voice actors who are bringing the game to life!

Here is what creator Ken Levine said about the Bioshock Infinite delay:

“When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing,” he said. “Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Bioshock possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 2013.”

He went on to say about not attending E3 2012 or GamesCom 2012:

“That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box. Preparing for these events takes time away from development.”

Bioshock Infinite is set in a massive, floating city called “Columbia”, that features a very cool, unique “Americana” artstyle and a deep, fully-realized world that impresses with its graphical flourish. Set in the early 20th century, the utopian ideals of the people of Columbia have given way to a world of chaos, where Plasmid-style superpowers corrupt absolutely, intense political upheaval pervades, rebellious violence and street thuggery persists, and warring factions have all coalesced to create a utopian hell in the skies… All of this is set to the backdrop of a unique world where horses and people have been replaced by steampunk robots and crazed superpowered denizens spur on violent revolution with unmatched power.

Here is a whopping 15 minutes of Bioshock Infinite gameplay footage!

In the game you step into the shoes of “Booker DeWitt”, who is formerly of the feared “Pinkerton National Detective Agency”, America’s largest security company of the late 19th century… Noticing a glitch in the Columbia matrix, DeWitt sets to right some wrongs and reveal the farce for what it is.

The original two Bioshock games were huge successes both critically and commercially, and Bioshock Infinite is no exception, already the game is one of the most highly pre-ordered, and publisher Take-Two is expecting the First-Person Shooter to sell in the range of 4 million copies!
