So I was innocently watching Fox New’s RedEye and The Five (love those shows!) while working on articles for the website, when I came across a TV commercial for WeatherTech and their car mats.
These baby’s are custom-designed, you head to the website (hit the link above) and give them the make and model of your car, and the mat that protects it against spilled drinks is custom-designed to fit your car’s floor like a hand-in-a-glove.
At least that’s the idea. I have no idea if these work or not, but I thought to myself, “Now THAT is a great idea.” For some reason, people never think about this type of thing until it is “too late”. i.e. no one has First-Aid Kits in their cars for the worst-case-scenario, no one living in a hot climate ever thinks about those solar AC devices to cool your car down during summer, and everyone complains when their cellphone battery dies when they’re out and about, even though they make solar recharges for them.
Lugging up the rear like a fat ogre is spillage-resistance car mats. No one ever thinks about protecting their car floor against spilled drinks, and then get PISSED when it happens to them. Watch. Two days after reading this YOU are going to SPILL your coffee in the car. Then you’ll come back and thank me.
In all seriousness, this is a pretty good idea, and a wise investment because, EVENTUALLY, spillage happens. Sh*t happens, so spillage happens. It’s a reality. And thus is me pimping this product.
Oh and here’s a video of a guy who EVENTUALLY talks about these Weathertech floor mats and even instals them in his car, showing the before and after. Pretty nifty!
Now does it work? That’s a whole other question… I haven’t done my research, but anyone who’s tried this or a similar product is welcome to let me know by leaving a comment. :)
