Dead Island 2: Riptide Announced (Xbox 360, PS3, PC). Dead Island 1 Family Massacre Announcement Trailer.

Dead Island 2 Has Been Announced

What will Dead Island 2 bring to the table?

Dead Island 2: Riptide has been officially announced for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The official title is simply “Dead Island: Riptide).

The game was, for some odd reason, quietly revealed at E3 2012, tucked away and barely noticed. Apparently a full reveal of the next game in the open-world, zombie apocalypse FPS series will be shown sometime later this Summer.

Apparently Technland will once again be the developer for the title.

Here’s the original Dead Island launch trailer.

Heroes of Ruin 3DS MMO Screenshot

Heroes of Ruin for 3DS shows its MMO-style in this screenshot. Play online or off with 4-players.

Heroes of Ruin by Square Enix for Nintendo 3DS (developed by veteran handheld developer n-Space) is a new action RPG dungeon crawler that features four-player online multiplayer via drop-in/drop-out and uses the 3DS mic to support full voice chat! It’s kind of like an offline MMO, styled in a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG style, but it only supports four-players at any one time, online or off.

Heroes of Ruin PAL Launch Trailer

The game also features unique social features using SpotPass and StreetPass. SpotPass gives players access to daily challenges that the developers will be publishing for players to tackle for up to a year post-release! While StreetPass allows players to trade items with other players they encounter “in da streets” via the “Traders Network” in the game. Pass someone by who also has the game, and you could get some cool new weapons, items and equipment. Additionally, a community website has been set up that allows players to keep more detailed track of their completed challenges and find additional challenges to tackle. The game also features local multiplayer so you can play offline if you want as well.

Hereos of Ruin Gameplay Screenshot

Gameplay in Heroes of Ruin looks like this. Be prepared to face titanic bosses!

Story
War raged for over a hundred years until strong, powerful Lords emerged from the fighting to bring a fragile peace to the land. This peace is threatened when one of the Lords, Ataraxis, ruler of the city of Nexus, is taken ill by a deadly curse. A call is sent out, promising rewards beyond measure for anyone who finds a cure. Four mercenaries, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and motivations answer the call. One uses forbidden spells to rain death on her foes, one has guns and bombs to blast his way through, another has a mighty sword capable of slicing through entire packs of enemies, and one other gains strength from savagely tearing through anything that stands in his way with brutal, bladed fists. These unlikely heroes can choose to create a fearsome alliance or venture forth from the city alone. Beyond the safety of the city the land is filled with strange and dangerous creatures, but none as deadly as the evil force behind the curse, which the heroes must eventually confront and destroy.

Here is a Heroes of Ruin Multiplayer Trailer (E3 2012)

Key Features of Heroes of Ruin include:
* Battle alone or with friends, chatting with your team in realtime using the 3DS microphone, trade items with them, forge new alliances and engage in tactical team play to overcome enemies.
* Choose from four diverse and powerful classes then customize your appearance from the outset. As your character evolves, so does your fighting style and armor set.
* Be a mercenary fighter doing battle against deadly fiends and powerful beasts battling forth on your own in single player or join forces with other heroes online.
* Explore and fight through dynamic environments; battle against a wide variety of deadly creatures who’ll stretch your combat and tactical skills.
* Play in new ways and access more rewards and achievements by completing challenges sent to your 3DS everyday, or download frequent new game content.

Here is an interview with the developers of Heroes of Ruin from E3 2012.

LifeQuote – Loose Lips Sink Ships

Loose Lips Sink Ships Girl Artwork

Be careful who you share information with, especially that innocent looking sexy girl!

Quote of the Day – “Loose Lips Sink Ships” is a phrase that I had never heard before, until my dad brought it up while reminiscing about an old construction job from his past.

I had never heard anything like it, and I think it is quite an amazing quote with all kinds of different ways to interpret it. And not only that, but it ties in Biblically with how God teaches us to live our lives…

The Bible explicitly speaks out about gossipers and how gossip and the love of it is ultimately corrupting and leads to all kinds of troubles. It causes rifts between people, and all around is a bad idea. Gossip is really the essence of this quote, which comes from the US Navy. The quote was used to keep soldiers from running their mouth about what unit they were in, what ship they were on, what mission they were doing, who their commanders were, etc. Why?

Because if they weren’t careful, the enemy would pick up on these loose rumors via spies or moles, etc., and if they weren’t careful they’d find their position compromised and their ship sunk.

Thus the phrase, “Loose Lips Sink Ships”. But I think it is a wise motto for life as well. Running your mouth is not generally a positive thing to do, and the Bible talks a lot about holding ones tongue, and how idle talk is not productive. It also says the power of life and death is in the tongue…

I have another life motto that says, “Do not take unnecessary risks”. I use this motto to remind myself to take an extra step instead of cutting corners, which can cause accidents. I got the motto when I was lazily pulling out cords, without looking or even paying much attention to what I was doing… and three times in a row I got shocked. From then on, I told myself I would take the extra step to pay attention. And I use the quote to remind myself to not take unnecessary risks when they can be avoided by taking an extra step and not being lazy.

I think I’ll file “Loose Lips Sink Ships” right next to “Don’t Take Unnecessary Risks”. :)

Question of the Day Poll – Are Your Biological Parents Still Married?

Walking Train Tracks Couple Holding Hands in Love

Such a lovely and beautiful picture. Are your parents married?

The Poll Question for June 16, 2012 is this: Are Your Biological Parents Still Married?

There are a lot of kids who come from out-of-wedlock parental relationships and situations, so I thought it would be interesting to see how many viewers have parents that still are married.

On the Cutting Room Floor – Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (Episode 8)

Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty Wallpaper Snake Artwork From Cover

The interesting artstyle for the cover artwork of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001).

Episode 8 of On the Cutting Room Floor (Games I’m Longing to Play) is Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Hideo Kojima’s cult-classic that stunned silent the gaming masses and followed-up one of the biggest games of all time.

If you know me, you know that there are TONS AND TONS of videogames I’ve never played. Sadly, although I consider myself to be a “hardcore” gamer, I really am not compared to most “gamers”. The reason for that is because, unlike other more productive people, I can never seem to find the time to play games. Period.

So I thought it would be fun to go through some of the games I’d LOVE to play and still plan on playing someday, but never have up to this point and why I want to play them. Maybe I’ll get to them at some point, and hopefully soon; but maybe not. We’ll see. Enjoy.

EPISODE #8 – Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Released: 2001
System: PS2, Xbox1, PC
Re-Released: Yes, as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita.
Genre: Stealth Action Adventure (Isometric third-person and first-person)
Developed By: KCEJ
Publisher: Konami
Creator Hideo Kojima
Is There A Digital Version?: Only for the PlayStation Vita (that I know of). It should eventually get a re-release as a PlayStation 2 Classic for PlayStation Network.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is the infamous sequel to one of the most groundbreaking games ever made, the original Metal Gear Solid. Hitting the same year as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the original MGS turned heads and made waves by presenting gamers with a highly realistic, highly scientific, fact-filled cinematic experience with dozens of hours of amazing voice-overs, movie-scenes, dramatic character development and story intrigue, and a Mature plot. It was stuffed to the gills with interesting situations, characters, interactions and moments that all-but-defined the original PlayStation and its library of innovative, cutting-edge videogames by some of the best developers in the world.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Stealth

Espionage Stealth Action continued in Metal Gear Solid 2.

In addition to offering outstanding visuals (for the time… MGS1 is hard to look at these days, the game didn’t even have lip-synching!), immersive audio and a fantastic plot and characters, the game offered interesting stealth-action gameplay to boot, where players stepped into the shoes of Solid Snake and snuck their way into highly secure areas, picking up new weapons and items as they went along that allowed them to better take-out their foes and explore their environment… from remote-controlled missiles to binoculars to a gas mask and infrared detection gear. Additionally, MGS gave gamers incredible boss fights where outwitting your opponent was just as important as anything else.

Many of the moments in the game, from the indepth and long-winded Codec messages where the two character’s facial profiles would appear on the screen and talk back and forth for seemingly forever (but those convos were awesome and full of interesting things to hear!), to the epic battle with Psycho Mantus, the game was highly unique and set the gaming world ablaze with perfect review scores in many publications and huge sales.

How would the developers at Konami and creator Hideo Kojima ever top it? That was the question by the time Metal Gear Solid 2 rolled around in 2001. One way they upped the first game was by sheer shock-value… while gamers thought they were going to continue the adventures of Solid Snake… Konami had placed wool over the eyes of gamers everywhere and, out of no-where, introduced them to an all-new playable character named Raiden who made up the vast majority of the game. This was a very controversial decision, and some people still maintain that the game losses out to the first game for just this reason. As many westerners saw Raiden as a pansy-boy who couldn’t dare fill the shoes of their gaming hero, Solid Snake. Still others say it was such a bold and dramatic move, that the game wouldn’t have been nearly as memorable without it. And that the Raiden-choice alone made MGS2 a must-have game and a momentous event in the history of gaming.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance Snake Tux VR Missions Gameplay

Substance added tons more… substance, to MGS2 via over 500 funfilled VR Missions!

Whichever side of the fence you fall on, Konami took many pains to make Metal Gear Solid 2 bigger, better and even more cinematic than ever before. Although they also introduced some unrealistic, supernatural elements into the game that many gamers feel held the game back when compared to the grounded realism of the original. Kind of like the flack that the Matrix sequels get, many people felt that Metal Gear Solid 2 made everything too convoluted for its own good, whereas the first game hit that sweet spot.

Sadly, I never got around to playing Metal Gear Solid 2, despite owning it several times. I only ever played a very small portion of it, and to this day I don’t know all of the surprises, crazy exposition and shocking moments that so set the world ajar WAYYYY back in 2001 with Metal Gear Solid 2. The game was improved upon with an extras-stuffed special edition as well (first released in 2002) called “Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance”, which hit for Xbox 1, PS2 and PC and added over 500 training VR missions/puzzles to the game, 5 new “Snake Tales” sidequests, a skateboarding minigame in the PS2 version, and more.

While Metal Gear Solid 1 will forever be held up as one of the biggest gaming moments of all time, Metal Gear Solid 2 was no slouch either, and still remains regarded by many as one of the best games ever made.

Here’s a classic GameSpot review of Metal Gear Solid 2 by none-other than Greg Kasavin, producer of the hit Indie RPG Bastion and beloved ex-GameSpot Editor in Chief!

On Death, Life, Dying and God. When It Looks Like Death Has Won, Remember Its A Lie. Love Lasts Forever, For God Is Love (Sermon of the Day T.D. Jakes At Whitney Houston’s Funeral Video)

Death Defeated. Jesus Rises Wallpaper

Death. Defeated. Jesus. Rises.

The Bible says that love is stronger than Death. But in the midst, throes and turmoil of losing a loved one, never forget that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, and took the sting out of Death.

When your loved one passes away, it will look like Death has won. But that’s a lie. Death has not won. For Love lasts forever. Love is stronger than death because God. IS. LOVE.

T.D. Jakes speaks this message at Whitney Houston’s funeral. If you haven’t heard it, take time to listen to his message and allow it to sink in. In just over five minutes this powerful man of God delivers the most eloquent funeral speech I’ve ever heard. Heartfelt, funny, gracious, moving, profound, uplifting. Perfect.

Do not allow death to sow seeds of bitterness, resentment, or even regret. We all will have regrets, of time lost, love lost… and memories and moments never to be redeemed again… But that is a lie. We WILL meet again in Heaven, and that time will be redeemed 100 fold. Remember that the Bible says our lifetime spent here on earth, even if it is 100 years or more, is as a wisp of smoke compared to our eternal life in the hereafter and beyond.

In but an eyeblink from God, 1000 earthly years pass by. Within an early second, our loved ones will be reunited with those who loved Jesus Christ and enter into the Kingdom of Heaven to be rejoined once again. Death is a destination… and death is the beginning of life. NOT THE END. Thus the death of a loved one is something to be celebrated.

Prayer Request: As my uncle Tom passes from this life into the next, please keep him and the family in your prayers. Pray that this brings the family closer than ever before, and that God prepares my uncle’s soul to enter Heaven, and embraces him with open arms. Thank you.

Death Is Dead Wallpaper

Death. Is. Dead.

Celebrate their life, celebrate their memory, and celebrate the reality of the afterlife in the loving wings of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and their creator, their Father God. For our lose is Heaven’s gain. And the gain they receive is beyond earthly measure or comprehension. We will join them soon enough, for life passes by in a blink. Make the best of it, and love people. For God is love, and nothing on this earth, not metal, stone or works of creativity, will pass with us. Nothing but our relationships, and those souls in which we have brought an eternal destiny.
