Becoming the Archetype I AM Review of New Album! (2012 Music Review). Christian Death Metal Titans Return In Masterpiece Fashion With 5th Full-Length Album and All-New Vocalists

Becoming the Archetype I Am Banner Artwork (Skull in the rain!)

… Are your soul and ears prepared for the blistering power of IAM from Becoming the Archetype? I think not.

I AM Review: Becoming the Archetype returns to show the kids how it’s done. With a brand-new lead vocalist, a whole new seat of background singing vocals (something BtA fans are used to ever since “The Physics of Fire”) and enough heavy tonnage to crush every bone in your body; these guys do not mess around. And they DO NOT disappoint.

I AM is easily one of the most anticipated and heavy-hitting Christian metal albums of the year, and this beast devours the death metal scene in fine fashion, while keeping to that melodic touch, poetic streak and God-praising intricacy that Becoming the Archetype is known for. Striking a homerun, I AM scores in all the areas that matter.

It is extremely heavy, deep growl-infused, clean-vocal singing prone when it matters, and shines through with lyrics that any other band would kill for.

Like albums past, the spotlight is on our Lord at all times, and Christian meatlheads will NOT go away empty handed. No, they will be headbanging down the street and into next year with this killer. The lyrics, I’m extremely happy to say, are the definite high-point in what is overall an incredible album from beginning to end. The intellectual meat is very thick on these bones. Just how BtA fans like it!

… I Am from Becoming the Archetype will be released in stores and online on September 18, 2012! PRE-ORDER IT!

Now for the song-by-song breakdown, with my individual song reviews as I listened to them for the first time.

Song #1: The Ocean Walker
I’m the type who loves albums to start off with a BANG. As such, this song left something to be desired. Even so, it is quite a beautiful piece, and thus it is suitable as an album opener if this is the type of song you dig. I am not a fan of the sung vocal style here, but it works fine. I think “Time Bender” would’ve been better placed in this spot as the album opener (it being the only song I heard pre-review copy), then again, Ocean Walker transitions nicely into Time Bender. Overall this a good song, but after listening to it as the first track, I feel like it (hopefully) is one of the weaker ones… [Ed note: And I was right in that assumption!]

Song #2: The Time Bender
Now this is IT! This song is flat out awesome in every single way possible. It not only melts the brain with awesomeness, but it gives you potent, intellectual words to chew on. Words that will stay with you long after the song has ended. Lines like, “I have seen you breath your last” and “I am holding your beating heart” are absolutely genius. This song is a winner and a AAA beast of as song. This song is the “Artificial Immortality” of I AM and this song proves that I AM delivers with exaclty what you want from Becoming the Archetype. You will NOT miss Jason Wisdom for one second after hearing this BtA masterpiece…. I love the guy, but this new vocalist Chris Heaton (formerly of Knoxville, TN based hardcore band “Dear Lovely”) has stepped properly into his shoes and filled them snugly. Buy this song!

Song #3: The Eyes of the Storm
Hol-y CRAP. That is my reaction after hearing this song. In true Becoming the Archetype fashion, this song is full of POWER. And the lyrics speak to God’s ability to both create and utterly destroy. But where many Christian metal bands would leave it at that… BtA takes the listener to the green on the other side of the pasture by telling them exactly WHY and for WHAT PURPOSE destruction is allowed by the triune Godhead. “To make your weak hearts quiver. To make you tremble. To create in you a sense of fear. To open your eyes to desperation.” Powerful stuff, and an equally awesome song to go along with it. This song is a definite winner and a heavy beast of a track.

Song #4: The Sky Bearer
*huff huff huff* Things keep getting better as we transition to this epic piece known as “The Sky Bearer”. The equally badass name is fitting, as this song has some flat out incredible lines. This song also features the first true solo on the album along with a powerful section of singing vocals that really put on the emotion and it is performed quite beautifully, especially once the heaviness kicks back in and the guitar really revvs up at just the right moment. Even still, I can’t help but feel that they could’ve done better on the clean vocals, just not a fan of this type of singing overall…. But I digress, it’s great for what it is and I can’t knock it. Singing in metal is often hit or miss, and I’d say this was a hit. The Sky Bearer really hammers home exactly how powerful our God is, whose might is beyond our wildest imaginings. And the lines truly give me chills. “I carried the sky on My back. All of the world had turned black. And stared into the mouth of Hell.” It doens’t get more epic! Overall, awesome song.

Song #5: The Machine Killer
Now THIS was unexpected. I was literally hit by a blast of shock as the first piano keys played, as I was expecting some of roughest metal headbanging to take place in a song with the title “The Machine Killer”… and didn’t notice the words “Instrumental” until the song started playing. I was literally picturing Terminator 2’s opening future with giant tank-tredding robots crushing skulls…. ahem. As such, that reality left me a bit wanting, until the final note of this very cool instrumental flipped the frown upside down. This is a great, beautiful, somewhat haunting little piece. It’s not overly complex, but hits all the right notes. A great track. I just miss my metal…. I think BtA should release a bonus full non-instrumental song version of this track just to give us music that REALLY suits the song title! Music that Arnold would be happy to kill to! *clears throat again* Moving on…

Song #6: The War Ender
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am done. DONE.

This song is all you need to listen to on this album and YOU WILL BUY IT.

This monster track absolutely kills in every way, shape and form. 10+++++ = 15 out of 10!

Like a double-edged sword, the lyrics cut to your very soul and leave you gasping for breath. So poignant and so powerful are the words to this song, that you’ll want to share it with everyone you come into contact with as soon as the final note plays. This song is absolute power, beautiful poetry, death, destruction, life and resurrection, all rolled into one. Color me blown away. I believe a song this amazing cannot be topped… BUY IT NOW!

Song #7: The Weapon Breaker
The middle of this song is absoloutely glorious. Just glorious. The song is a true death metaler unlike anything you’ve seen before from BtA (erm, well….). It’s brutal and yet slow in vocal style (except when it’s fast…. natch). “War Ender” also contains some badass lyrics: “The scars of your lives. And the sounds of your cries. Destruction/Obliteration.” I don’t really like the way this song ends however. And I’m not a big fan of the “All these shall see their…. end” sections, with the long drawn out pause before the word “end”. Even though it makes sense, it just kind of comes off as weak without the PUNCH that I feel was needed. This song is okay but not the best on the album I feel. But, even so, overall this is a great song, brutal and heavy as heck, just not quite up to the level of “The War Ender”. Which I feel is definitley the top, best song on the album so far (we shall see…). This song is among my least favorites, alongside “Ocean Walker”.

Song #8: The Planet Maker
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Like “End of the Age” on Becoming the Archetype’s Dichotomy album, this song has an air of worship about it that gives it true beauty… Outright worshiping our God is scarce within the metal world and we need more songs like this one. This song will make you happy to be alive and happy to serve the Maker of worlds. The music is brutal and yet has a joyous feel to it that must be heard to be believed and is absolutely wonderful. The vocals are as heavy as you get, the lyrics are powerful, and then the singing kicks in… and you’re in a place of worship as you stand in awe at the splendor of our Father. “New life is my occupation. New creatures of my creation. I make things that need making. I wake the worlds that need waking.” *in Shao Khan voice* OUTSTANDING.

I must note though that the singing, the clean vocals here, are much too high for my tastes. BUT, the juxtaposition with the heavy vocals once they kick in is absolutely fabulous and pulled off perfectly. Thus it fits really well and grew on me the more I raped the replay button (dirty…). Sooo, no complaints from me! This is my second favorite song on the record and an absolutely incredible track. Unless…..

Song #9: The Sun Eater
WOW. Once again the lyrics on this album are incredible, and they strike again with this powerful song written from the perspective of Jesus, the Mighty One who forever sits at the righthand of the Father. This song is POWERFUL, however it does not have the melodic beauty of The Planet Maker, instead it is all crush and crunch straight through. With clean vocals that sing, “I am the Light. I alone make the darkness bright”. So. Awesome. This song is incredible, although I’d put it behind “The War Ender” and “The Planet Maker” for third best song on the album. That only leaves the finale……

Song #10: I AM
PHEW. *wipes sweat off brow* Did I speak of power before? This song SWINGS IT HOME. Melodic, crushing, mind-blowing vocals, deep growls of the most metallic kind, and Biblical verse whose power cannot be ignored. Jesus Christ said, “I AM THAT I AM. Me and My Father are One”. It sends shudders down your spine, and this song will rock your world. The long intro is the icing on the cake.

However, watch out that you don’t cut your gums on that wooden toothpick sticking out, it’s sharp… ‘What in the heck does that mean?’ You say. Towards the end of the song, just as it’s badassery is about to tear you to shreds and eat you alive, comes an out-of-no-where STUPID, STUPID, STUPID talking section in the background as the music is pounding. This section is so hideous it completely 100% took me out of the moment. It is beyond lame, and is virtually a song killer. I almost started this song review with “Ugh”. That’s how bad it is.

Thankfully, and praise God, this song is so beyond incredible and absolutely awesome, with a completely redeeming ending, that one spikey sore spot doesn’t ruin that oh-so-sweet after taste. This song is a winner, and hands down the heaviest track on the album. A fitting end to an incredible musical masterpiece overall.

Billy Graham 911 Speech For September 11th 2001 Memorial Service At Washington DC National Cathedral (September 14th 2001)

Billy Graham 911 September 11th 2001 Memorial Speech Photo (9/14/01)

Photo of Billy Graham giving the September 11th Memorial Speech.

Billy Graham’s 9/11 September 11th Speech at the Memorial Service are powerful, eternal words; even 11 years later here on September 11th 2012.

Here is the full audio, with the text transcript below. God bless you.

Billy Graham’s remarks given at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on Friday, September 14, 2001, brought hope and healing to the shocked nation. They still hold power, 11 years later.

We come together today to affirm our conviction that God cares for us, whatever our ethnic, religious or political background may be. The Bible says that He is “the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.” (1)

No matter how hard we try, words simply cannot express the horror, the shock and the revulsion we all feel over what took place in this nation on Tuesday morning. September 11 will go down in our history as a Day to Remember.

Today we say to those who masterminded this cruel plot, and to those who carried it out, that the spirit of this nation will not be defeated by their twisted and diabolical schemes. Some day those responsible will be brought to justice.

Here is a partial video.

But today we come together in this service to confess our need of God. We’ve always needed God from the very beginning of this nation. But today we need Him especially. We’re involved in a new kind of warfare. And we need the help of the Spirit of God. Read the rest of this entry »

The Twin Towers lighting up the night sky as we remember the victims of 9/11 and pray for America.

Today is 9/11/12. Never forget September 11th – WE REMEMBER. Tyranny, terrorism, Muslims willing to die to kill others. This is a reality and the world we live in today.

Together we must stand united and fight extremism wherever it stands. Fight for freedom, justice and Christian moral values. Honor life and fight for the oppressed. Fight for those women in Muslim nations who have no say, no free rights, no freedom of religion, of the press, of assembly, of speech… no rights to pursue happiness as THEY see fit.

Truth. Justice. And the American Way. That is who we are. THAT is what we stand for. Wherever the oppressed may be.

Remembering 9/11 from President Barack Obama today:
“Eleven times we have paused in remembrance and reflection, in unity and in purpose. This is never an easy day, but it is especially difficult for all of you, the families of nearly 3,000 innocents who lost their lives.

But no matter how many years pass, no matter how many times we come together on this hallowed ground, know this: That you will never be alone, your loved ones will never be forgotten. They will endure in the hearts of our nation because through their sacrifice they helped us make the America we are today, an America that has emerged even stronger.”

Remembering 9/11 from Sarah Palin:
“We remember that eleven years ago today nearly three thousand of our fellow Americans were killed by evil men. Every year on the anniversary of 9-11, we read out the names of those who died and comfort their families, and at military recruiting centers throughout the country, young men and women choose this day to enlist to serve their fellow Americans and ensure that something like this never happens again. While some try to move on with their lives and let the tragedy of that day recede in their memories, our men and women in uniform remain ever vigilant for us.

Top 10 Old-School Christian Metal Bands (NoiseCreep)

Best Christian Metal Bands Wallpaper By ZippMotionless

Awesome wallpaper featuring the best Christian metal bands on the planet!

Who are the top 10 Oldschool Christian metal bands (Heavy Metal)?

Noisecreep has given us a list of some of the greatest Christian metal bands from yesteryear (and one modern) that are worth checking out.

Top 10 Oldschool Christian Metal Bands

1. Stryper
2. Believer
3. Trouble
4. Zao
5. Strongarm
6. Mortification
7. Extol
8. Vengeance Rising
9. As I Lay Dying
10. Tourniquet

Out of all of these, the only bands I’ve ever listened to out of this list are Tourniquet (absolutely awesome but extremely nerdy metal band), As I Lay Dying (Of course, goes without saying) and Zao. The rest? Not a single song (although I’ve heard of some of them).

Jesus Metal Music Logo

A badass Jesus Metal logo.

I actually left a comment on this list complaining about how this is an old-guy’s list, and most kids who only started listening to metal post-Korn/Slipknot or post-2000 will not have heard of most of these bands.

All of the great modern Christian metal bands that have changed the WORLD OF METAL (not just the Christian industry), from UnderOath to Demon Hunter to War of Ages to August Burns Red to Becoming the Archetype to Norma Jean to The Showdown to The Chariot to Impending Doom to As I Lay Dying are no where to be found on this list (er, with the exception of the latter).

Which is a crying shame. But instead of finding this list to be absolute crap, I instead decided that it was a pretty good list of OldSchool Christian Metal bands that a lot of modern listeners of my generation (I’m 27) have probably not heard of or checked out.

So what are you waiting for? EDUCATE THEE SELF!

Tourniquet – If Pigs Could Fly
“If this song was put out by Metallica, we would’ve heard it on the radio daily.” Couldn’t agree more, this song is absolutely awesome.

Tourniquet – Trivializing the Momentous, Complicating the Obvious
One of my favorite songs of all time will always be this one. This song is nerd-metal to the core, but infinitely compelling and ultimately awesome beyond description. Before I even truly new what metal was, I knew this song was insane.

Unborn Babies Are Not Products But People. A 20-Something Christian Gaming Metalhead Conservative Debates A Pro-Choice Pro-Abortion Democrat of the Same Age

Abortion: You May Call It A Choice, But It's Still Murder

You can all abortion whatever you want to call it. The act is murdering an individual. Factually.

People are NOT “products” and neither is a fetus. While that may sound like common sense, this absurb stance on another soon-to-be-son or daughter was the counter-argument proposed to my Pro-Life stance by a fellow friend in an extensive debate I had with him on the topic of abortion and life.

One one side (mine), you have someone who believes that all-life is precious, even the tiny innocent human to be born as the result of rape or incest. On the other side (my friend) is the belief that an unborn person is a “product”, and can thus be disposed of at the whims of their mother. Two competing views.

In my mind, while the mother’s life is of the utmost importance, just as important is the PERSON she is carrying inside her. As soon as conception has been made and a human being, your son or daughter, is growing inside you, you forfeit the right of considering your body your own. Anything and everything you do effects your little one, and if they die inside you, YOU DIE. If you are murdered, they are murdered. It is not one murder, it is considered TWO.

This, as everyone knows, is the natural cause and effect of sexual intercourse and unprotected sex. Regardless of the circumstances, that person growing inside you is an innocent boy or girl who deserves their own shot at life. That is my stance as a Christian, Conservative and Republican, and always has been.

This topic was the debate subject I had when my dear childhood, lifelong, liberal Democrat friend called Paul Ryan a “prized asshole” (a phrase I would never use for anyone, I should add. I don’t use that kind of obscene language) over Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney’s Vice Presidential choice’s refusal to support abortion even in the case of rape or incest.

Here is our conversation in full, followed by more observations by me at the end. This will give you a clear definition on where I stand as far as abortion is concerned.

Paul Ryan Cross

A fantastic picture of our next Vice President of the United States.

Democrat: What a prized asshole. “Paul Ryan Refuses To Say Abortions Should Be Available To Women Who Are Raped” – link.

Me: Just saw an interview with a woman born of a rape. She values her life just as much as you value yours.

Democrat: That’s cool. I once took a psychology class and in the class was a girl who was the product of rape. She said she would have preferred that her mother never had her because she always saw the pain in her mom’s eyes when she looked at her. Even after her mother had more children from a loving relationship, her mom always had a different look and treated her differently then she did her siblings. She said that her mom had a hard time raising her and it was an intense emotional struggle for her mother.

I’m also sure that you’re familiar with the 13th amendment, right? You know what it means and what it stands for. A woman is raped and then a product is made. The mother is then a host for that product… involuntarily.

The product then feeds off of and grows within the mother… without her initial consent. It’s then brought to term and a laborious and painful birth ensures. It was never the intent of the mother to go through with this, the product and constant reminder of a time in which something happened to her that took away her freedoms and it continues for 9 months.

Beautiful Pregnant Woman Belly Art of Baby Inside Belly

No sense to be so overjoyed. It’s just another product growing inside you, right?

Then come the emotional bondage of give it away to a system of orphanages and foster homes that is broken and underfunded to which the kid has little chance at a normal life or whether to keep it and have the woman remain a slave to the horrendous event and the kid to have “special” treatment as in the case of the student I shared a classroom with.

Taking away the right of a woman to choose her own, something that you believe was imbued to you by a creator (the right to choose) and something that is reinforced by our government (the pursuit of life, liberty and property/happiness), is committing her to slavery/indentured servitude.

Not you or I or anybody in the Whitehouse has the right to say what a woman can or cannot do when it comes to this, for it would be unconstitutional.

Me: Actually it says all have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Once another human being is growing inside you, your body is not your own. Anything and everything you do effects that life, which is why there are warning labels in places that serve alcohol.

Romney Ryan Oppose Abortion Are Both Pro-Life Banner

Both Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have pro-life records, though one has flipflopped on the issue.

As Ron Paul said, you treat pregnant women as two people, not one person. You may forfeit a life as a “product”, which speaks volumes, but many people see it differently. And that life has every right to be given a chance at life despite the circumstances of its birth. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Democrat: Actually, if you look up the history of the phrase, you’ll find that it was intended to mean property and did say it but was changed to say the latter.

I didn’t forfeit anything. A child is a product. Life is a product. Humanity is a product. One of the definitions of the word is “1. Something produced by human or mechanical effort or by a natural process.”

Once a child that was made from such a despicable act of confinement is made, it is an extension or the original act and it’s up to the mother to make the choice, for she is the one that has to live with either outcome and if that’s the case then she has the chance to atone for her actions, right? She’ll meet her maker in the end. Correct? Then we don’t get to decide for her in this life; only she can do that.

Me: Well I’m just glad I don’t have that twisted outlook on life. You should read this book called “A Stolen Life” by Jaycee Dugard.

You would’ve taken her greatest gifts away from her, on account of them being rape induced. Thankfully she held a different view, and sees their life’s as gifts, angels to brighten her day through the chaos and pain she had to endure. Innocent lives.

Here is an extensive interview with Jaycee Dugard.

Democrat: I’m sorry that you think my view on life is twisted just because it doesn’t conform with yours. I would have used the word different because that’s all that it is.

Some Other Dude: You know, mandatory birth control would make this a moot issue. :o)

Me: It’s not because it doesn’t conform, it’s because it values death over life. Innocent life. I should’ve tacked an “with all due respect” onto the front. And that is why this issue will never be “resolved”. I can’t see how anyone can kill an innocent being no matter the circumstances, while you don’t even see it as a being. So there’s no compromising on this front, the gap between views is a gulf as wide as the ocean. Just as a lot of views between Conservatives and Liberals shake out to be.

Democrat: I don’t value death over life. I’m not saying that there aren’t any consequences. I’m just saying that this isn’t for anyone but the woman to decide.

Me: But that means you are giving the infant no choice in the matter. How is that fair? Or moral? That’s how you are choosing death over life. The mother’s life is important, of course, but just as important is the human she is carrying. I don’t see how in the world anyone can undervalue that, considering you, me and everyone that walks this earth was once one of these “products” ourselves.

Think about it logically, if a woman were to take her infant and throw it out the window, that’d be a crime, a disgrace, and immoral. But to kill it, is not immoral? It’s perfectly fine. It’s her choice if he or she lives or dies?

Ron Paul discussing abortion, and how pregnant woman are considered TWO PEOPLE not ONE. The health of the child is just as important as the mother.

Democrat: It’s still not up for you, me or any government to decide.

Me: Actually yes it is, when a child is in danger others step in to save that child, be it the police or government or a concerned citizen who reports abuse. Because that child has rights, just like you and I do, and deserves their shot at pursuing happiness. Parents have authority over the child, but not authority to end the child’s life or cause excessive harm or endangerment to him or her.

Pro Life Beats Pro Choice 2011 Gallup Poll (2012 Today)

Pro Life has defeated Pro Choice on abortion in 2011 and 2012 as Pro-Life continues to grow.

I went on to make a few observations regarding abortion and the state of its support, or lack thereof, in a few other Facebook posts.

“Although Pro-Choice Democrats still outnumber Pro-Life Democrats, the percentage of Pro-Choice Democrats has dropped ten points in the last year, from 68% to 58%. Pro-Life Democrats currently make up 34% of the Party, which is a seven point increase over the same time period.

The upward Pro-Life trend in the country is not limited to older adults. A 2010 Gallup poll illustrates that Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-nine have been moving in the pro-life direction. In 2003, 40% of that age group considered themselves pro-life. By 2010, that percentage had increased seven points to 47%.” – – Source

The Democrats do understand that 51% of the country now considers themselves pro-life right? Last time I checked, above 50% is considered a majority. Meanwhile those who identify themselves as “Pro-Choice” is at its lowest point ever, 41%. The DNC (Democratic National Convention, where Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will officially be nominated for the 2012 Democrat Party Ticket as the incumbents) will feature the president of Planned Parenthood speaking at their convention.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think most people see that organization like they perceive Code Pink; radical. As the series of recent stings has proven, where undercover agents revealed them promoting (or failing to report) child rape and child prostitution, and stings revealing Planned Parenthood advisers advising clients that aborting their unborn baby’s based on their kids gender was acceptable and perfectly legal… I think their reputation has been quite tarnished in recent times, wouldn’t you agree? Well We’ll see if hosting the President of Planned Parenthood helps the case for the Democratic Party and Barack Obama, but I have my doubts.

Especially considering that more and more people are coming to the conclusion that abortion is abhorrent and immoral than ever before. After decades of Pro Choice dominance, people are CHOOSING LIFE over death this time, and I expect that Pro Life support will only grow in the future, not shrink. And that includes young people like myself.

Can Christians Embrace Horror? Scares, Thrills, Spills, Guts and Glory In Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dead Space And Others

The Cross Repels Evil

The Cross repels evil. In the end, good always triumphs over the hellspawns of the underworld.

Can Christians embrace horror? Videogames like Dead Space, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil feature scares, thrills, spills, guts and glory (quite literally) as they charge gamers with overcoming demonic abominations of the highest order, and surviving a world that’s gone to hell.

Personally, one of my favorite genres is Survival Horror, however like metal music, full of demonic imagery, skulls and bones, gore-fiends and moshpit-loving violence-craving thrill seekers, the genre is often interpreteted to be inherently Satanic.

And yet one who is in the genre or a heavy partaker of it, understands that glorifying the underworld and its manifestations of violence, blood, guts, blasphemy and filth; is not always the case for all bands who go the metal route. Beyond that, those listerns who love the headbanging world; are not always doing so as a full embrace of the antichrist-position that often spills from the mouths of secular metal bands.

Horror is much the same way, with the exception that most created horror IS not glorifying the light in any way… a notion that Christian metal bands convey to those willing to listen; while keeping the grotesque and violent motifs that are staples of the genre… only they twist it so it points to the Cross and away from the Pit.

It is hard to make that argument when discussing horror in either film or in gaming however.

But it is my belief that embracing horror videogames is not a full-out endorsement of what most of the games preach throughout the majority of the duration of said adventure through hellish imagery.

In fact, to write horror off as nothing but a pure act of grotesque blasphemy and filth with no redeeming factors, is to vastly oversimplify it. It is true that some horror does just that with no redeeming qualities, but NOT all of it. And that mindset does a disservice and writes off an entire complex genre made up of hundreds of thousands of different tales, characters, stories and worlds.

Like in the metal realm, there are plenty of smart, intelligent, horror-themed videogames that have many redeeming qualities. I believe horror and the desire to be scared can actually run parallel to the beliefs we as Christians hold. “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.”

Ultimately horror, in almost ALL cases, is about overcoming evil, savagery and blasphemous beings bent on delivering grotesque hell upon others. Beyond the striking and violent imagery, much like the Cross itself, is redemption and horrific stories of those who conquered the arms of death and lived to tell the tale.

Pyramid Head Represents Satan Artwork By Calisto Lynn

… Pyramid Head is an unforgettable Silent Hill character representing pure evil. Interpret it as Satan himself. Always there, constantly seeking whom he can devour.

In addition, a smartly told horror story, will intersperse many other elements that elevate it above a simple gore-fest. Silent Hill for example is a dive into psychological horror, where demonic sights and sounds unsettle the player, and try to suffocate you in fear. The story however is extremely deep, vastly open to interpretation, and is ultimately a tale of love, sacrifice, overcoming fear and triumphing over the evils of Hell… literally.

The opening of Silent Hill 2, for example, tells the tale of a man named James, who receives a letter from his wife. His deceased wife. In it she talks of their “special place”, a town called Silent Hill. He knows she is alive, dead people cannot write letters? Right? Read the rest of this entry »

Encouraging Quote of the Day – No Thing And No Person Can Make You Miserable Without Your Permission

Pure Joy Puppy

Now THIS puppy knows his victory in Christ! YEAH BABY YEAH!

“No thing and no person can make you miserable without your permission.” – Joyce Meyers

Remember that joy and happiness come from within. No one can take that from you. The Bible says to be joyful because of the victory that Christ has given you over death and the grave. No matter what happens in your life, you ultimately have the victory. Take control of your emotions and do not let your mind be miserable no matter the situation. Instead rejoice!
