New Power Ranger (Kamen Rider: Rider Generation 2) DS, PS Vita Game Screenshots (No 3DS)

Power Ranger-like Kamen Rider Generation 2 for PS Vita and DS Screenshot

Power Ranger-like Kamen Rider Generation 2 game for PS Vita & DS

Kamen Rider is the fan-loved, infinitely edgier Japanese-only version of Power Rangers… in Japan Power Rangers is known as “Super Sentai” and has been running since the 1970s (stuff that in your pipe and smoke it). It’s okay. You learn something new everyday!

And Power Rangers itself is simply a style of show that is known as “sentai”, a sentai or Super Sentai-style show is a show, like Power Rangers (the most familiar one to Westerners) where people dress up in elaborate costumes and perform superhero-like feats. You could think of Godzilla as an early example of what I mean. Power Rangers has been by far the most popular American sentai, although we have gotten others. Any kid of the 90s (or an 80s kid like me) will recall other Power Ranger style shows such as VR Troopers, Beetle Borgs, The Masked Rider, Ultraman, Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, etc.

Epic Kamen Rider Wallpaper for DS PS Vita Kamen Rider Generation 2 Game

Looks awesome doesn't it? :D

Anyway, because Kamen Rider is a Japanese series, the likelihood of us getting this new DS and PS Vita version is zilch, but the game actually looks quite awesome in screenshots. I’m a big Power Ranger fan, but I’ve never seen Kamen Rider (a show who’s following has grown exponentially since anime has grown in popularity and many a young American watches plenty of Japanese, Korean, etc. anime and live-action shows online)… blasphemous I know.

Feast your eyes on some screenshots of “Kamen Rider: Rider Generation 2”, the second Kamen Rider game. Definitely looks like it’s a beat-em up. I like beat-em ups. :D

Beat-em ups are nice. Me likes.

Here’s a video of the American version of Kamen Rider…. which I JUST FOUND OUT existed! :O LOOKS FREAKIN’ AWESOME! I gotta go cop that! :P The show airs on the CW in their 4Kids block on Saturdays at 9:30am or so.

Now here is a look at the Japanese Kamen Rider…. in a cheesy music video. Oh well.

Pokemon White 2 and Pokemon Black 2 Announced. New Trailer Shows Gameplay (Nintendo Direct)

White Kyurem and Black Kyurem Artwork

Pokemon White Version 2 and Pokemon Black Version 2 have been officially announced for Nintendo DS (NOT 3DS), as Pokemon fans already well know. The games will be released this fall in America and Europe, and release in Japan on June 23rd 2012.

This makes the localization for the sure-to-be-hefty RPGs the shortest translation process (localizing the games from Japanese to English) in Pokemon history… since Pokemon games contain so much text, there is usually a wide gap between the Western and Eastern releases… looks like Nintendo and Game Freak are getting ever more efficient at translating them.

Although the games are technically for the regular DS, they can still be played on a 3DS (like with all DS games, as the 3DS is backwards compatible ensuring older DS games work on it) although they will remain in 2D. However Nintendo has promised that the games will have some kind of 3DS and DSi capability….

Here is the newest gameplay trailer from Nintendo Direct for Pokemon White and Black 2!

New forms of the Pokemon Kyurem will be the main Legendary Pokemon and mascots of Pokemon White 2 and Pokemon Black 2, and will be sported on the game’s cover. They are called “Black Kyurem” and “White Kyurem.” A sort of combination of Kyurem and Reshiram (Ice and Fire type?) and Kyurem and Zekrom (Ice and Electric type?) seems to be suggested… although it turns out that both of them will keep regular Kyurem’s Dragon/Ice typing… Bummer.

Both of the characters will tie into the upcoming Pokemon anime movie (called “Pokemon: Kyurem VS The Sacred Swordsman: Keldeo” in Japan) as you can see in this trailer for the film.

Watch Me Play: Elite Beat Agents Let’s Play (DS)

Elite Beat Agents Cover Front and Back (PAL)

Watch Me Play: Elite Beat Agents! (DS)

Watch Me Play Elite Beat Agents! In this new Let’s Play, I bust out the good ol’ DS rhythm action game from Nintendo and Inus, which was one of the biggest breakout music games for Nintendo’s last-gen powerhouse portable.

It’s easy to see why once you see the game in action, it’s challenging, easy to grasp (once you get the hang of it) and extremely, extremely challenging on later stages. It’s also really funny, well-written, unique and fast-paced with an outstanding soundtrack, cookey characters and an energy that sucks you into rhythm heaven (pun-intended). It is quite simply one of the straight-up funnest, funniest and highest rated games on the DS. If you haven’t played it yourself, you owe it to yourself to pick it up!

Pokemon Conquest Announced For America. Releases June 18, 2012. English Version of Nobunaga’s Ambition

Pokemon Conquest American Box Art

Pokemon Conquest will be released in America on June 18th for DS. Released in Japan as Pokemon + Nobanaga's Ambition

Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition is heading to America as Pokemon Chronicles! It will be released on June 18th, 2012 for Nintendo DS (Not 3DS, mind you).

For the first time, players will not play as a Pokemon Trainer per se, but instead as a Japanese warlord… who also is a Pokemon Trainer. BOOM! Additionally, for the first time ever, you play battles with not two-on-two battles, not three-on-three, but your ENTIRE TEAM at once! This provides six-on-six battles that are unprecedented for the long-running RPG series.

Pokemon Conquest Character and Partner

Main character alongside their Pokemon Conquest partner

Pokemon Chronicles is a strategy RPG instead of a traditional RPG, and plays kinda like Disgaea-lite mixed with Dynasty Warriors characters in a game developed by Tecmo Koei.

In Pokémon Conquest, players take on the role of a young Warlord who is linked with a Pokémon. Together, they must set out to recruit Warrior allies to strengthen their growing kingdom.

Pokemon Conquest Tactics

A strategy RPG in Pokemon Conquest you can see the tactics at work in this gameplay screenshot

Along their journey, players will encounter a variety of Pokémon, as well as Warriors and Warlords inspired by the Japanese feudal era. The game contains nearly 200 Pokémon, including many from the recent Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games, which have sold more than 4 million copies combined in the United States.

There will also be 17 kingdoms in the game, and each features a unique Nobunaga’s Ambition general and his Pokemon partner to battle as the boss.

Here is a trailer for Pokemon Conquest.

As the battlefield unfolds in Pokémon Conquest, players must choose the correct Pokémon type to inflict maximum damage on their opponents, making use of the traditional Pokemon formula fans know and love. In the turn-based skirmishes, players choose different tactics for intense six-on-six battles, and battle conditions can change on every turn, keeping players on their toes in anticipation of what will happen next.

“Pokémon fans are always interested in playing in new environments and experiencing new adventures,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Pokémon Conquest gives them an entirely new way to enjoy this beloved series, with exciting new settings, fierce battles and nearly 200 Pokémon to team up with.”

The game got great reviews in Japan, with praise for the way the game simplifies Tactical RPG gameplay into a system that kids can easily grasp, while also offering tons of replay value.
