When Metal and Orchestra Meet. Symphony of Heavy Noneuclid deathmetal and Wolfgang Richard Wagner

When Metal and Orchestra Meet!

Metal meets symphony, absolutely beautiful!

What happens when a symphony and full orchestra meets metal? ABSOLUTE BLISS.

You have to see this video to believe it. For what is arguably the first time, an entire orchestra and a whole sympony, with the backing of the people in charge, conduct an amazing performance that sees a German metal band playing ALONGSIDE a full orchestra! The two styles of metal and classical music are mixed, and what you get is one of the most awesome things I’ve ever seen.

Calling it “Transitional Metal”, the metalband involved in the project is called Noneuclid (a progressive/technical/avant-garde death metal band from Germany… whatever all that means! :P) and it turns out that the father of the band’s bass player is actually a professor of music! As you might imagine, that kicked off discussions of what would happen if you mixed the two styles together. So they decided to bring the music of Music Professor Ulf Klausenitzer son’s metal band together with the classical compositions of composer Wolfgang Richard Wagner to create a mix of truly epic proportions! And all of this was approved by Wagner’s Great Grand-daughter! Is metal getting some respect in all this or what?! :D

Transitional Metal

The professor of music who led the project to mix a full orchestra with metal music!

You have to see it to believe it. The full video of the performance has yet to be made available sadly, but the band is working on getting it released in some form. Here is a trailer though where you can see some brief glimpses into the magic that is created when metal and orchestra meet! There’s also some very interesting comments as well from the father about the interesting, complex history of music. When you really think about it and about how music has evolved into the sounds we have today from metal bands, hip-hop and the like from where it came from, it’s quite a thing to ponder. I wonder what those ancient classical artists would think of today’s music?
