Song of the Day – Free At Last (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included)

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Free At Last”, the title-song from their 1992 album. This is track #8 of 17.

Free At Last is truly a piece of work, it’s unlike anything you’ve likely heard before, and plays out much like a church song that you’d actually hear while in a church. Lots of choir vocals and joyful singing along with some hip-hop raps… It’s really unique… And definitely early 90s. The song is also somewhat tongue-in-cheek and doesn’t take itself too seriously…. But neither does any song on their 1992 album you could say, eh. This is arguably my least favorite DC Talk song, but it’s interesting and has a cool vibe to it so it’s required listening at least once. And the part when Martin Luthor King Jr. comes in is absolutely awesome.

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is Consume Me from their 1998 album Supernatural. This is track #4 of 14.

Consume Me is one of the best songs on the Supernatural album, and was a big hit when this album came out in 1998. It’s a powerful song and a beautiful one at that. This song used to bring me to tears at times. :)

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is Time Is from their 1992 album Free At Last. This is track #9 of 17.

Time Is (Ticking Away) from DC Talk’s 1992 album “Free At Last”, in my opinion, marked a glimpse at the future, and at the Rock Band direction that DC Talk would take with their next album. Although “Time Is” has hip-hop elements, it’s a very rocking track that is absolutely awesome sounding, and in many ways feels out of place to the rest of the album (IMHO).

Chance (Along with Sugarcoat It) are among the two newest DC Talk songs ever recorded, on what is DC Talk’s final album Intermission: The Greatest Hits, released in 2000. This album featured two all-new songs, and Chance is an absolutely great song. I love the sound. And it really makes you long for an all-new album from this awesome group.

March 2013 is dedicated to the Christian rock pioneers DC Talk, arguably my favorite Christian CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) rock band and follows January 2013 which was Demon Hunter Month and February 2013 which was Becoming the Archetype Month. March will feature songs from most of dc Talk’s discography (1992’s Free At Last, 1995’s Jesus Freak, 1998’s Supernatural and 2000’s Intermission) featured daily throughout the month, one a day. Whether you like rock/alternative/hip-hop music, believe in God or not, check these songs out as you may be pleasantly surprised and hopefully you will discover some new-to-your-ears music to enjoy. Song of the Day – It’s Killing Me (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Supernatural Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “It’s Killing Me” from their 1998 album Supernatural. This is track #2 of 14.

It’s Killing Me is a straight-up rock track that served as a harsh introduction to the new sound of DC Talk from their Supernatural album, it’s about as far from Free At Last as you can get. This song is about how you cannot force someone to see the Love of God, and although it kills us inside, all we can do is pray for that person. Enjoy!
