Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Like It Love It Need It” from their 1995 album Jesus Freak. This song is track #8 of 13.
Like It, Love It, Need It is a head-bobber about the state of the current generation who spends their time complaining and trying to find peace of mind in everything but Jesus. This is such an awesome song, and it holds up extremely well.
Like It Love It Need It DC Talk Song Lyrics
VERSE 1:
Under these circumstances they can hardly cope
Notice their fleeting glances and their lack of hope
I offer this suggestion they don’t seem to care-o
This is my generation drowning in dispair-o
You’ll never find peace of mind in your pool of self
You’ll never find peace of mind in a sea of wealth
You’ll never find peace of mind in your rock and roll
You’ll never find peace of mind if you sell your soul
CHORUS:
You gotta like it, You gotta love it
I know you need some Jesus in your life
You gotta like it, You gotta love it
I know you need some Jesus in your life
VERSE 2:
We circumvent our feelings through an angry sound
He who complains the loudest wears the fattest crown
We’re anti-everybody call it paranoia
Well, I ain’t no judge or jury, but I’m praying for ya
You’ll never find peace of mind in your lucky charm
You’ll never find peace of mind on a hippie farm
You’ll never find peace of mind in a one-night stand
You’ll never find peace of mind in your superman
(Chorus x2)
Bridge/Rap:
Ya dropped right in the middle of a freak attack
Cause we’re back and we’re comin’ like that
Ya see we’re lowerin’ the boom in the middle of the tune
Cause the funk is always heavy where it’s at
So, while you’re whining all the time never changing any minds
It is clear to see your lip has lost it’s button
Cause, if ya take a think at this it is easy to admit
That the selfish way you’re living is for nothing
(Chorus x4)

About DC Talk Month
March 2013 is dedicated to the Christian rock pioneers DC Talk, arguably my favorite Christian CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) rock band and follows January 2013 which was Demon Hunter Month and February 2013 which was Becoming the Archetype Month. March will feature songs from most of dc Talk’s discography (1992’s Free At Last, 1995’s Jesus Freak, 1998’s Supernatural and 2000’s Intermission) featured daily throughout the month, one a day. Whether you like rock/alternative/hip-hop music, believe in God or not, check these songs out as you may be pleasantly surprised and hopefully you will discover some new-to-your-ears music to enjoy. DC Talk features lots of variety in their tunes, from hard rock to hip-hop to slow ballads that will pull on your heartstrings to singable power pop, so there will most certainly be something you’ll like. Enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »
