Portal 2 Sales Are 4 Million. Selling Same Amount As Original Portal 1 With 4 Mil Sold. Steam Sales Not Included. Real Number Likely 8 Million

Portal 2 Level Editor Testing Art

Building your own Portal 2 levels is fun! :D

Portal 2 has sold in excess of 4 million copies announced Valve, the premier developer and publisher of the Steam Platform and hit games ranging from Half-Life to Left 4 Dead. This statement was made in an interview by NeoGamr by Valve’s David Sawyer.

This does not make Portal 2 a huge success over the original Portal though, as Portal 1 also sold 4 million copies. Although this does mean that Portal 2, and the Portal franchise as a whole, are EXTREMELY successful.

Four Million units in sales is nothing to scoff at in any sense of the phrase. What’s even more amazing is to consider that these sales numbers do NOT include Steam sales… which means the real numbers are likely double that!

The newest Portal 2 DLC, the Perpetual Testing Initiative level editor Downloadable Content, is now available, giving fans more of what they love!

This new content allows players to create, share and download Portal 2 levels! Greatly expanding the replayability of the game, and allowing players to publish their devious creations to the Steam Workshop, where other fans can browse, vote on and download new fanmade levels for them to try out!

Here’s a funny Portal 2: Perpetual Testing Initiative trailer.

Photo of the Day – Super Mario Soda Bros. Store Display! Mario, Luigi, Mushroom and Pipe In Pop Style

Super Mario Soda Bros.! Store Display of Mario & Luigi

An absolutely epic store display made of soda!

Things DO NOT get more epic than this photo!

Someone or some store somewhere, took many different kinds of soda (as you can see in the pic) and created a montage that uses the color of the soda boxes to recreate Mario, Luigi, a pipe and a Mushroom power-up from Super Mario Bros.!

EPIC!

Company of Heroes 2 Announced. Sequel takes RTS World War II Wargame to Eastern Front

Company of Heroes 2 Snow Screenshot

Snow is the big new hook in Company of Heroes 2. As you can see in this gameplay screenshot.

Company of Heroes 2 has been officially confirmed, announced via PC Gamer magazine scans that were leaked. The mag got the exclusive scoop on the all-new Real-Time Strategy sequel from developer Relic Entertainment.

The game, as you can see from the title, is a direct sequel to the hit original Company of Heroes, released in 2006 for PC and Mac.

The key difference this time around will explore the Eastern Front during WWII, while maintaining the core of what made the original game so critically acclaimed and well-received. The plot will follow a war correspondent and the various changing perspectives he witnesses during the second World War as the Allied troops engage the Axis forces through perilous situations that drag through brutal, punishing Winters that kill off many of the solders on all sides.

Because this game primarily takes place in the Eastern Front, players will get to witness how snow impacts the playfield, and realistic snow will be a central hook to this game’s gameplay. So for example, infantrymen will be extremely slowed due to the snowdrifts and how they have to slowly trudge through deep levels of snow, but that same snow can turn into a benefit if it gets packed due to the tracks of your tanks. Snow will also realistically melt, causing roofs to cave in, avalanches, and all kinds of fun stuff, as you can imagine.

Company of Heroes 2 PC Gamer

More Company of Heroes 2 information revealed in the current issue of PC Gamer magazine.

Additionally, fans of the previous game will be sure to enjoy this one, as Relic promises they wont’ stray too far from the original Company of Heroes, and won’t pull a “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II”.

Full details on the game will come soon from PC Gamer magazine, and we are sure to get an indepth reveal with gameplay footage of the game soon, as E3 2012 approaches (June 5-7).

Song Video of the Day – God of Nothing (Lyrics Video) by MyChildren MyBride From Self-Titled Album

MyChildren MyBride God of Nothing From Self-titled Album (art)

The extremely creepy “God of Nothing” by Christian metal band MyChildren MyBride.

MyChildren, MyBride’s God of Nothing, a song from their self-titled album released last March, is an extremely powerful, eerie song that demonstrates to me that Christian metal bands can be just as effective at instilling fear and terror, as any secular band can.

This song truly will make the hairs on your neck standup, and is extremely thought-provoking as well. I love how MyChildren MyBride encorporated horror-style sounds and a pervasive sense of fear into this song.

If you haven’t heard MyChildren MyBride before, then be prepare yourself for a very creepy ride. And buy MyChildren MyBride at Amazon to support this awesome band and add the new album to your collection!

This is an album I really wanted to pre-order before it came out, having enjoyed their initial debut album. I’ve seen them in concert twice, and liked their first album quite a bit. However I never got around to hearing their second album. So this self-titled one will be my re-introduction to the band.

MyChildren MyBride was established in 2004, having previously been called “Stars Are Falling”. Their debut album was Unbreakable, released in 2007 on Solid State Records. The album was produced by Joey Sturgis of The Devil Wears Prada and mixed by Adam Dutkiewicz (aka Adam D.) of Killswitch Engage. This album had a Halo tribute song called “Headshot” that turned quite a few heads. Their next album was called “Lost Boy” and released in 2008. Finally, their third and newest album, self-titled, was released on March 13th, 2012.

Black Ops 2 Pre-Orders Three Times That of Call of Duty: Black Ops 1. 30% Higher Than Modern Warfare 3

Set in the Future: Black Ops 2 Screenshot

The future world of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Pre-Orders are 3x that of 2010’s Black Ops 1 and 30% above Modern Warfare 3! In other words, Black Ops 2 has entered the big leagues… and the game doesn’t come out for another 6 months!

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 release date is November 13th, 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Black Ops 2 has, from the day of its announcement, blew up the retail space unlike anything before it, and has already outpaced its prequel (2010’s “Black Ops” 1) by 3 times! Additionally, the game has already seen a 30% Pre-Order increase over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from last year! That is HUGE, because Modern Warfare 3 holds the record as the most pre-ordered videogame of all time on Amazon, and is in the top 20 ALL-TIME list on Amazon.com for any product of any category, that includes movie pre-orders, book pre-orders and music pre-orders! QUITE THE FEAT!

So if Black Ops 2 can outpace Modern Warfare 3 in pre-orders, then Activision will be one HELL of a happy company, and surely swimming through vats of money like one Scrooge McDuck!

Speaking to GameSpot, a US Amazon representative stated: “Preorders from day 1 of Black Ops II were more than 10 times the amount of preorders for the first Black Ops on its first day of availability. Black Ops II even out preordered the first day of availability for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 by more than 30 percent. Modern Warfare 3 currently holds the record for the most preordered game of all time and was amongst the top 20 preorders ever on Amazon.com, including books and movies.”

Black Ops 2 is being developed by a team of over 300 people at developer Treyarch, and is the next game in the best-selling, highly anticipated Call of Duty franchise. A franchise that Activision has made into a yearly event of mammoth proportions, to huge sales, high-critical acclaim and mega-interest. With each subsequent game becoming bigger and bigger and setting new records.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, as the title suggest, picks up right where the original Black Ops from 2010, left off. However, in a first for the series, Black Ops 2 is actually set IN THE FUTURE!

Here is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Debut Trailer.

Xbox 360 Kinect 4GB Bundle Now Cost $99 With 2-Year Xbox Live Contract (Limited Release)

Xbox 360 Kinect 4GB Bundle

The Xbox 360 Kinect 4GB Bundle now $99 at Microsoft Stores across the nation.

Want an Xbox 360 for $99 dollars? Don’t mind signing up to a 2-year Xbox Live Contract at $15 per month? Then Microsoft may have the deal for you!

Being sold at limited availability via 21 specific Microsoft Store locations across the United States, Microsoft has announced the cheapest Xbox 360 Bundle (including Kinect!) ever conceived with this new $99 Bundle.

Included is the Xbox 360’s motion-sensing camera and microphone peripheral the Kinect Sensor, along with a 4GB Xbox 360 Elite system and harddrive, 1 Xbox 360 Controller (black) and the Kinect Adventures videogame. Of the Kinect bundles on offer, this is the lowest-tier featuring a sad and pathetic 4GB harddrive, as opposed to say a 250GB behemoth.

Going this route, you will get the system much cheaper upfront, but pay more for it in the longrun. You’ll end up paying $460 as opposed to the $300 or so it’d cost you to buy this same Xbox 360 Kinect bundle outright. A 250GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle meanwhile retails for $400. Additionally, if you want to cancel the contract, it’ll cost you $250 during the first 3 months and scales down to $12 during the 23rd month.

If you want an Xbox 360 quickly and cheaply with Kinect included, this may be the best route to go. Although you can probably find a better deal by looking into used systems.

Here is a gameplay video of Kinect Adventures for Xbox 360 Kinect.

Led Zeppelin: Rock Band Game Announcement Coming At E3 2012?

Led Zeppelin Wallpaper

Is Led Zeppelin: Rock Band in development? We’ll find out soon, as E3 2012 approaches.

Rock Band: Led Zeppelin is a title gamers and fans have been clamoring for for years now, but may the game finally actually be in development?

According to rumors and speculation Internet super sleuth website Superannuation, a film editor from Passion Pictures has listed “Harmonix Rock Band Led Zeppelin” on his resume… which would mean the game is something he has already worked on… If the resume is to be believed as evidence.

While Passion Pictures may sound like a lowrate p0rn film outfit, it is in fact the name of the company that worked on the opening sequence for Harmonix’ huge hit from 2009, The Beatles: Rock Band. Which adds much more weight to this rumor being real.

Here’s The Beatles: Rock Band launch commercial.

If it is true that a Rock Band: Led Zeppelin title is in development, then it is very likely that we’ll hear about it within a month, as E3 2012 is just around the corner (June 5–7). Of course, you’ll want to take this rumor with a grain (or gallon) of salt…

Speaking to GameSpot, Harmonix director of communication and brand manager John Drake stated, “As we’ve noted before, we’re constantly in talks with all major artists and labels. That said, Harmonix has never been in development on a Led Zeppelin game, though we’d obviously be thrilled to have them in Rock Band. No idea why this is listed on this person’s resume.”

In addition to releasing The Beatles: Rock Band (2009) and Green Day: Rock Band (2010) in the past, Harmonix has always said they’d be interested in doing more band-based games, and Led Zeppelin has always led the charge in fan interest, even topping a survey in 2010 where the developers asked what bands players would most like to see get their own game. Others answers given in the survey included Pink Floyd (#2), The Eagles (#3), Queen (#4), and U2 (#5). Read the rest of this entry »

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Sales Are 1.7 Million Units Sold. Selling More Than Street Fighter X Tekken’s 1.4 Million (Xbox 360, PS3)

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Screenshot of Gameplay

…. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City kicked ass and took names with 1.7 million copies sold, 25th best ever for Capcom.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City sales are in, and it sold more than Street Fighter X Tekken. Selling a higher amount than the anticipated fighter is quite the feat for the Resident Evil series as a whole and this third-person shooter spinoff by Slant Six Games in particular.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was slammed by critics and the game received largely negative review scores across the board due to a myriad of reasons. Claiming poor design, bad AI, glitches and boring environments among others. IGN called Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City “little more than a poor-man’s SOCOM and a destitute man’s Resident Evil”, and some reviewers went as far as to say that the game has badly hurt the Resident Evil brandname as a whole… Although that’s some kind of stretch considering that Operation Raccoon City is a spinoff and not part of the core Resident Evil series.

Despite all this, sales of the game were extremely promising, as Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was released on March 20th and has sold 1.4 million copies as of March 31st, on only two platforms (Xbox 360 and PS3).

…The awesome box art for Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City featuring the badass evil Bioweapon from Resident Evil 2!

This makes Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Capcom’s 25th best-selling title of all time! So despite the critics (the game has a 52 out of 100 Metacritic score) and the bad reviews, the game seems to be popular and has seen solid sales that make a sequel likely, and may redeem the Western-developed game in the eyes of its Japanese publisher despite the harsh reviews. And let’s face it, if they make another one, they’ll likely fix all of the problems that hurt the debut entry.

Here’s the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City launch trailer.

Although hopefully Slant Six will work to patch up a lot of these issues in the near future, given that it is an important online third-person shooter for Capcom.

Sales of Capcom’s other AAA, big-name title of mid-2012, Street Fighter X Tekken, were lower than Capcom had hoped, but still not too shabby. The highly anticipated Street Fighter X Tekken crossover Fighting game sold 1.4 million copies since it’s release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 6th, 2012. I wonder if releasing both heavy hitters in the same month hurt sales some?

Street Fighter x Tekken Box Art (US)

….Here’s the awesome boxart for Street Fighter X Tekken, featuring Ryu & Chun-Li of Street Fighter vs Nina and Kazuya of Tekken!

Unlike Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Street Fighter X Tekken was universally praised by critics and has a 84 out of 100 Metacritic score. However Capcom had banked on the game selling 2 million units, so in some ways it is a disappointment. Of course, the game garnered lots of negative press when it was discovered that the game disc contained content that Capcom intended to charge players to access as “Downloadable Content”. And this controversy may have hurt sales of the game (although I find that unlikely).

Here’s the Street Fighter X Tekken launch trailer.

Speaking of Resident Evil: Raccoon City’s low review scores, the developer told GameSpot, “It’s challenging,” said studio producer Mike Kerr. “A lot of people put a lot of time and effort into the game and obviously we’d like to see the review scores be a little better than they are right now.”

Capcom announced that net sales have dropped 16% year over year for the publisher, down to $1.02 billion (Â¥82.06 billion yen) with operating income (profit) dipping to $154.1 million (Â¥12.32 billion). Although they expect a much bigger year by the end of 2012 thanks to big-name titles like Resident Evil 6 and investments in “high growth potential content”.

Resident Evil 6 will be released this October 2nd 2012. We’ll learn much more about what other games Capcom has in store this year and in the future at E3 2012, taking place from (June 5–7).

Bible Verse of the Day – Gracious Words Are Like Honey, Sweet to the Soul and Health to the Body” Proverbs 16:24

Gracious Words Like Honeycomb

Honeycomb, gracious words are sweet to the soul.

Proverbs 16:24 from The Holy Bible, Old Testament, Chapter 16, Verse # 24:

Gracious words are like a honeycomb,
sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”

This is such a powerful little verse, so much knowledge and wisdom is imparted in just these few words. And while you can take it at face value and learn much, you can also see it as an interesting figurative quote to mean or stand for all kinds of things.

In the end, just taking it at face value, this verse tells us of the power of speaking to people in a positive manner. If you live a happy, optimistic lifestyle, you will notice how it changes the mood around you and the mood of others who come into contact with you.

When I was working at Denny’s in the past, I was told on no less than THREE occassions by different co-workers that I “smile too much” or asked “why/how are you always smiling?” These people noticed something different in me. The Light of Christ shines bright, even if we don’t speak of Him directly.

And that is because, like this Proverb says, gracious words are like honey to the soul and body, they are sweet to the ear and to the mind; and those who speak them will live a life much less burdened than their peers.

Honey in comb form

Mmm, honeycomb looks SOOO delicious. I’ve never had it. :/
