Song of the Day – In the Light (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Intermission Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “In the Light” from their 1995 album Jesus Freak. This song is track #10 of 13.

In the Light is an absolutely fabulous song, one of their best. It’s hard to pick a best DC Talk song cause all of them are fantastic, but if there was one song to show to someone, this would could easily win as it is an amazing track. It can still bring me to tears to this day, it is such a moving piece. Enjoy!

In the Light DC Talk Song Lyrics

[1, 2, 3]

I keep trying to find a life
On my own, apart from You
I am the king of excuses
I’ve got one for every selfish thing I do

What’s going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I’m still a man in need of a Savior

(chorus)
I want to be in the Light
As You are in the Light
I want to shine like the stars in the heavens
Oh, Lord be my Light and be my salvation
Cause all I want is to be in the Light
All I want is to be in the Light

The disease of self runs through my blood
It’s a cancer fatal to my soul
Every attempt on my behalf has failed
To bring this sickness under control

Tell me, what’s going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I’m still a man in need of a Savior

(repeat chorus)

Honesty becomes me
[There’s nothing left to lose]
The secrets that did run me
[In Your presence are defused]
Pride has no position
[And riches have no worth]
The fame that once did cover me
[Has been sentenced to this Earth]
Has been sentenced to this Earth

Tell me, what’s going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I’m still a man in need of a Savior

(repeat chorus 2x)

[There’s no other place that I want to be]
[No other place that I can see]
[A place to be that’s just right]
[Someday I’m gonna be in the Light]
[You are in the Light]
[That’s where I need to be]
[That’s right where I need to be]

About DC Talk Month
March 2013 is dedicated to the Christian rock pioneers DC Talk, arguably my favorite Christian CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) rock band and follows January 2013 which was Demon Hunter Month and February 2013 which was Becoming the Archetype Month. March will feature songs from most of dc Talk’s discography (1992’s Free At Last, 1995’s Jesus Freak, 1998’s Supernatural and 2000’s Intermission) featured daily throughout the month, one a day. Whether you like rock/alternative/hip-hop music, believe in God or not, check these songs out as you may be pleasantly surprised and hopefully you will discover some new-to-your-ears music to enjoy. DC Talk features lots of variety in their tunes, from hard rock to hip-hop to slow ballads that will pull on your heartstrings to singable power pop, so there will most certainly be something you’ll like. Song of the Day – Jesus Is Just Alright (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Free At Last Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Jesus Is Just Alright” from their 1992 album Free At Last. This song is track #4 of 17.

Jesus Is Just Alright defines the Free At Last record and DC Talk’s early 90’s hip-hop sound. To me this is the quintessential song that shows off the band’s hip-hop roots before they switched to rock with Jesus Freak. This song is awesome, and still rocks to this day!

Jesus Is Just Alright DC Talk Song Lyrics

(chorus)
Jesus is still alright with me
Jesus is still alright, oh yeah
Jesus is still alright with me
Jesus is still alright

Toby Mac, and the Mac is back no slack
On a DC track that’s jacked, beyond comprehension
I believe that I failed to mention that
There’s a lack of recognition
When it comes to His position
Cause if Christ can’t be crossed over,
Then I’ll keep my beat up nova

(repeat chorus 1)

(chorus 2)
I don’t care what they may say
I don’t care what they may do
I don’t care what they may say
Jesus is still alright

Back in place, and I’m all up in your face
With a rhyme that I embrace, like a mother to her child
I’m kickin’ it Jesus style
To the ones that think they heard
I did use the “J” word
Cause I ain’t too soft to say it
Even if DJ’s don’t play it

do do do dupe dupem dupe dopem do (3x)
Jesus is still alright
[Oh, I’m hopin’ and I’m praying]

Jesus is still alright
Jesus still alright, oh yeah
Jesus is still alright
Jesus is still alright
[oh yeah]

(breakdown)
Jesus is alright, I know He’s alright
Jesus is alright, you know He’s alright
Jesus is alright, we know He’s alright
Jesus is alright, we know He’s alright

[Now we come to the pay off]

I’m down with the one that is known as the Son
Of the G to the O to the D never done
With the flow, in the know, on the go like a pro
Not for show cause I ain’t in the biz for the dough
Or the me, or the ray, all the dough’s gotta stay,
Cause I can’t, no I can’t, take it home anyway
Never trite when I write cause the Lord is my light
And His Word is my bond so ya know, He’s alright

(repeat choruses 1 and 2)

[think about it…]

Here is the awesome Jesus Is Just Alright Music Video (DC Talk) featuring all three of them getting their dance on in the middle of the desert! This is a funny video because it’s corny in that early 90s way, yet not because it’s taken seriously. But it’s funny to just see them dancing around. Overall a cool video. And holy crap Michael Tait is BUFF! :D

Song of the Day – Colored People (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Jesus Freak Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Colored People” from their 1995 album Jesus Freak. This song is track #2 of 13.

Because DC Talk is a group composed of two white guys (Toby McKeehan and Kevin Max Smith) and a black guy (Michael Tait), i.e. “two honks and a negro” (to quote a song from their 1992 album Free At Last), race has always played an important part in DC Talk’s music. Naturally the rap/rock trio has a lot of passion for race issues, and being good friends of different colors, race has always been an important issue for them to tackle in their songs. Enter “Colored People”, a powerful song about the beauty to be found in races of different colors which is like God’s beautiful canvas of paints, tints and shades… which is a beautiful thing. A great song overall. I love how the song is boy joyful yet has a hint of sadness to the verses.

Colored People DC Talk Song Lyrics

Pardon me, your epidermis is showing, sir
I couldn’t help but note your shade of melanin
I tip my hat to the colorful arrangement
Cause I see the beauty in the tones of our skin

We’ve gotta come together
And thank the Maker of us all

[Chorus]
We’re colored people, and we live in a tainted place
We’re colored people, and they call us the human race
We’ve got a history so full of mistakes
And we are colored people who depend on a Holy Grace

A piece of canvas is only the beginning for
It takes on character with every loving stroke
This thing of beauty is the passion of an Artist’s heart
By God’s design, we are a skin kaleidoscope

We’ve gotta come together,
Aren’t we all human after all?

[Chorus]

Ignorance has wronged some races
And vengeance is the Lord’s
If we aspire to share this space
Repentance is the cure

Well, just a day in the shoes of a color blind man
Should make it easy for you to see
That these diverse tones do more than cover our bones
As a part of our anatomy

[Chorus]

We’re colored people, and they call us the human race
[Oh, colored people]
We’re colored people, and we all gotta share this space
[Yeah we’ve got to come together somehow]
We’re colored people, and we live in a tainted world
[Red and yellow, black and white]
We’re colored people, every man, woman, boy, and girl
[Colored people, colored people, colored people, colored people, yeah]

Song of the Day – Between You And Me (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Jesus Freak Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Between You And Me”, from their 1995 album Jesus Freak. This is track #7 of 13.

Between You And Me is another powerful song from DC Talk. If you really want to see how talented this bands music and singing is, this song is a great example. While I dig DC Talk’s fun songs, their slow songs like this one are their most powerful and are extremely moving. I love the bridge section. This is one of my favorite DC Talk songs ever! Enjoy.

Between You And Me DC Talk Song Lyrics

(It’s just between you and me)
(I’ve got something’ to say)
(I want to get it straight)
(Before the sun goes down)

Sorrow is a lonely feeling
Unsettled is a painful place
I’ve lived with both for far too long now
Since we’ve parted ways
I’ve been wrestling with my conscience
And I found myself to blame
If there’s to be any resolution
I’ve got to peel my pride away

[Chorus]
Just between you and me
I’ve got something’ to say
want to get it straight
Before the sun goes down
Just between you and me
Confession needs to be made
Recompense is my way to freedom now
Just between you and me
I’ve got something to say

If confession is the road to healing
Forgiveness is the promised land
I’m reaching out in my conviction
I’m longing to make amends
So, I’m sorry for the words I’ve spoken
For I’ve betrayed a friend
We’ve got a love that’s worth preserving
And a bond I will defend

[Chorus]

In my pursuit of God, I thirst for holiness
As I approach the Son, I must consider this
Offenses unresolved, they’ll keep me from the throne
Before I go to Him my wrong must be atoned

If there’s to be any resolution
I’ve got to peel this pride away

Just between you and me
I’ve got something’ to say
I want to get it straight
Before the sun goes down
Just between you and me
Confession needs to be made
Recompense is my way to freedom
It’s my way to freedom

It’s my way to freedom
It’s my way to freedom
I’ve got something to say, so let me say it today
It’s my way to freedom
It’s my way to freedom
I’ve got something to say, confession needs to be made
It’s my way to freedom
It’s my way to freedom
I’ve got something to say, confession needs to be made
It’s my way to freedom
It’s my way to freedom
I’ve got something to say

Austrian Death Machine’s Triple Brutal Album Announced (Via IndieGogo Crowdsourcing). As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis Returns On Vocals For Arnold Schwarzenegger Parody Metal Band With Guest Musicians, Writers, Vocalists, Etc. (Impending Doom, Allegaeon)

Triple Brutal Austrian Death Machine Album Cover Classified

Awesome cover art!

As I Lay Dying lead singer Tim Lambesis’ Arnold Schwarzenegger parody-band Austrian Death Machine has announced their third album, “Triple Brutal”! This album follows previous releases “Double Brutal” (2009) and “Total Brutal” (2008).

Triple Brutal will be entirely independently produced via Crowd-Sourcing website “IndieGogo”, which allows fans to help fund the Austrian Death Machine Triple Brutal record and get cool extras for doing so, including a Vinyl copy of the album! As always with crowd-sourcing, the more money you give to the project the cooler stuff you can get!

If you haven’t heard of the band “Austrian Death Machine”, they (“they” previously being simply Tim Lambesis himself and a voice-guy pretending to be Arrrrnold) are a metal parody band that is inspired by famous Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes (Like “Get to the Choppa!” or “Come With Me If you Want to Live”) and Schwarzenegger movies (Terminator, Jingle All the Way, Total Recall, Predator) that builds kickass metal songs around those quotes and movies. Throughout the songs there is a parody voice of a guy who sounds like Arnold saying funny things (as well as Tim Lambesis…. playing himself. “Arnold” often makes fun of Tim and calls him a “girly man”), including actual Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes and wordplays. The albums also features comedy interludes between songs of Tim talking to “Arnold” which plays on Arnold’s ultimate masculinity and overall ability to kick your and everyone else’s ass. :D

Here is one of my favorite Austrian Death Machine songs to give you an example, it’s Arnold’s quote from the movie “Jingle All the Way” and the song is called “Who Told You You Could Eat My Cookies?” Naturally, the quote lends itself to a Cookie Monster parody! Enjoy!

Additionally, here is Austrian Death Machine’s official music video for “Get to the Choppa”!

In short, Austrian Death Machine is AWESOME! You should both check out their previous albums and help them create their third album by backing this project! DOOO ITTTT!

I should also mention that Triple Brutal is the first album that will feature major guest stars from other bands, not just on vocals but musicianship as well and even on the writing of the songs. Previously Tim Lambesis not only did the vocals in the songs (outside of the Arnold vocals) but also all the musicianship himself. This time he’ll have help from guests including drummer Brandon Trahan of Impending Doom and guitarist Ryan Glisan of Allegaeon/Pyrithion! Awesome!

Metal Music Video of the Day – Deceiver By Impending Doom From Baptized In Filth Album. The Words You Speak Come Straight From Hell. Your Walls Are Weak And We Can Tell. Dead Bodies Standing 10 Feet Tall Of the Devils At Your Funeral

Deceiver Satan Impending Doom Music Video Wallpaper

The words you speak come straight from Hell. Your walls are weak and I can tell.

Christian Death Metal masterminds Impending Doom and their new music video Deciever is a doozy. This song comes from their newest album, “Baptized In Filth”.

Here is the music video for Impending Doom’s “Deceiver”.

This song is NOT for the feint of heart, those who cannot stomach disturbing scenes and Satanic imagery need not apply.

Regardless, this song is a heavy-hitter, and pulls no punches when explaining and showing what evil looks like, smells like, tastes like.

With hard-cutting lyrics like, “The words you speak come straight form HELL. Your walls are weak and we can tell” and “Dead bodies standing ten feet tall of the devils at your funeral.”

When lead singer Brook Reeves growls “Your words come straight from Hell”, the guy means it.

This song is an absolute powerhouse, and the music video should go a long way towards establishing Impending Doom as a true titan in the Death Metal scene with their gorship music (which they’ve been at consistently since 2007’s debut “Nailed. Dead. Risen”, Baptized in Filth being their 4th full-length album), yet blasting away the darkness with the Light of Truth in Christ wherever they walk, and doing it heavier than any secular band.

Metal Music Video of the Day – A Greater Foundation By As I Lay Dying

As I Lay Dying A Greater Foundation Music Video Jordan Drum Moshing Screenshot

One of the most badass music videos I’ve ever seen!

The music video for A Greater Foundation by As I Lay Dying from their upcoming 5th full-length all-new album Awakened, is an absolute POWERHOUSE of crushing, badassness.

In my opinion, music videos that simply show the band rocking out, do not get any better than this. Everything about this video absolutely kills. You gotta respect how AILD bring it with every new album, always raising things to a new level.

The video features metalheads continuously circling and moshing around the band as the band plays the song. Like a pounding, steady drumbeat, along with the gang vocals and singing chorus, it’s mesmerizing!

Check it out, you WON’T BE disappointed!

And be sure to pre-order an Awakened As I Lay Dying Tshirt Bundle and support Christian metal! Or buy Awakened On Amazon for a very cheap $8!

The new album releases on September 25th 2012!
