Instrumental Song of the Day – Dust And Smoke (Demon Hunter Month) Instrumental From 45 Days Documentary Film Soundtrack

Dust & Smoke by Demon Hunter is a cowboys and Indians Western-style instrumental song from Demon Hunter’s 2008 documentary film 45 Days‘ soundtrack.

The 45 Days soundtrack album is wholly poetic and voiceless, with all acoustic instrumental tracks (10 of them) that are absolutely beautiful. The one that has always stood out to me the most and that I continue to play even today, is this track, entitled “Dust & Smoke”. Since this is an instrumental track, there are no lyrics. But listen in awe as you get to hear Demon Hunter compose beautiful instrumental music that is unlike anything the band has ever done before or since.

About Demon Hunter Month
January 2013 is dedicated to the Christian metal band Demon Hunter, arguably my favorite band; and will feature songs from their entire catalog featured daily throughout the month, one a day. Whether you like metal, believe in God or not, check these songs out as you may be pleasantly surprised and hopefully you will discover some new-to-your-ears music to enjoy. Demon Hunter’s sound is extremely diverse, not all songs feature screams and growls, some are slow, sung ballads; others are heartfelt, all are deep with powerful lyrics that will make you think and ponder, as the sound takes you away.

The Last Story (Wii) By Final Fantasy Creator Launches This Month. History of The Last Story Documentary Video

The Last Story Characters and Cast Wallpaper For Wii RPG

The Last Story Wii RPG launches this month. Be sure to pick it up!

The Last Story, an RPG from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and his Mistwalker studio.

Check out this History of The Last Story video documentary!

The Last Story is highly critically acclaimed and has a great deal of hype surrounding its North American release; due to the fact that the game was greatly requested by the folks at the Operation Rainfall group who were demanding that The Last Story get localized and released in America (alongside Xenoblade Chronicles, released last April, and Pandora’s Tower, which has yet to get an American date).

Because of this, hope that The Last Story sells well and gets high pre-orders is desired by many. Who think that the likelihood that Pandora’s Tower gets localized rests on great sales of The Last Story.

Thankfully, the game looks awesome, so it will hopefully sell well. If you haven’t pre-ordered it yet, please do so to support this excellent RPG and Operation Rainfall! And that will hopefully compel a company to pick up Pandora’s Tower for American localization.

The Last Story will be launching by the end of the month, so be sure to buy the game!

History of Mortal Kombat 20th Anniversary GameSpot Documentary Interviews the Actors and Developers Behind the Game (Video)

Mortal Kombat 1 Dragon Logo Wallpaper

Awesome Mortal Kombat 1 wallpaper featuring the iconic Dragon Logo

Mortal Kombat is celebrating its 20th anniversary! This History of Mortal Kombat retrospective documentary from GameSpot gives a very detailed, hands-on look at the game that blew the fighting craze into the stratosphere with its mature, violent combat, rocketing it to become a national and worldwide phenomenon.

Before Mortal Kombat, fighting games had never gone into a realm of violence that you see from Hollywood movies that are rated R. But once Mortal Kombat hit, extreme violence would become a norm for the industry. And remember that Mortal Kombat actually preceded the original Doom game by one year.

This awesome documentary actually seeks out each of the game developers and almost all of the actors that played the characters in Mortal Kombat, and sits them down to interview and talk with them about what it was like making Mortal Kombat, their experiences developing the game, and what they thought when MK become a huge worldwide household name, spawning Senate hearings, media hoopla and parental outrage on the violence in videogames (which is what directly led to the creation of the ESRB videogame ratings system).

This is definitely the first time I have ever seen all of these people interviewed in the same piece! They include series co-creator and current Mortal Kombat series producer Ed Boon (the sole-programmer for the original Mortal Kombat!), series co-creator and artist John Tobias, John Vogel (background artist), Dan Forden (the infamous “Toasty!” guy who composed MK’s music and headed up all the voice samples, sound effects and sound design in the game), Daniel Pesina (Actor for Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Reptile), Ho-Sung Pak (Actor, played Liu Kang & Shang Tsung, was also in the Turtle movies & a film with Jackie Chan and Hong Kong cinema) and Carlos Pesina (Actor who played Raiden). Sadly they didn’t get everyone, as there is no Sonya, or the guy who played Kano (unless he is one of the above… not sure on that point), but it’s still a really awesome look at one of the biggest milestones in gaming history!

Diablo III Out Now Exclusively On PC and Mac. What Is Diablo 3 Featurette, Commerical TV Spots and Debut Trailers

Diablo 3 Angel Screenshot

The CG artwork for Diablo 3 is absolutely phenomenal.

Diablo III, the highly anticipated, long-awaited modern entry in the hack-and-slash RPG series, has finally hit store shelves. The release date was May 15, 2012.

Diablo 3 succeeds Diablo 1 and Diablo 2, classic epics that gamers have long known and loved. The first game was released way back in 1996, with the latter hitting in 2000.

Even today the Diablo name is spoken with reverence, and people continue to play and love Blizzard’s genre-defining loot-dropping, dungeon-crawling action RPGs to a degree that few games ever obtain.

That leads us to the first modern entry in the series, and a game that has been in development for a very long four years. What can players expect from Diablo III? Find out in this “What Is Diablo 3?” documentary, which breaks down the game and what it offers.

Here is the debut trailer that enraptured players with the promise of epic gameplay to come, with a stunning cinematic Computer Generated trailer.

Along with this extended version.

Here are several commercials advertising Diablo III’s release.

Diablo III: End of Days Commercial

Sadly, I never got around to playing the original two Diablo games. I still plan on doing it, and sometime soon. Either way, Diablo III looks absolutely epic. And I can’t wait to play the game.

Sadly the Diablo 3 launch has been fraught with errors, lots of people having a hard time logging into the game. Hopefully Blizzard will get it all fixed soon.

J.R.R. Tolkien In His Own Words Actual Video Footage Interview (Autobiography)

J.R.R. Tolkien Smoking Cigar Pic

The brilliant J.R.R. Tolkien. Always with a cigar in his mouth. He reminds me of US President Roosevelt.

J.R.R. Tolkien, the writer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy among many other fantastic works, is an absolutely fascinating person.

How can you not be fascinated by a man who could speak over 20 languages and CREATED over 20 languages himself! Who does that?! NO ONE. Except this man.

As such, a wise man can learn to be wiser still by studying Tolkien and the works he created. What is most interesting to me was Tolkien’s Christian faith, the man was a strong Catholic. I want you to name someone who can speak over 20 languages and who has created over 5 languages who is not a Christian. Well, this man was, and he was one HELL of a wise man. For me, it is hard to argue with someone who was so brilliant, and yet came to the conclusion that God was real, and Jesus was the only way to the Father.

I was even more fascinated to discover that it was J.R.R. Tolkien who led C.S. Lewis to Christ, and not the other way around! Although C.S. Lewis was brought up Christian, he abandoned the faith in his teen years and become a devout Atheist and heavily interested in the occult. That all changed once he met Tolkien. I’ll bet you he used his power of reasoning to understand that anyone who was an even greater master of the craft of writing and language than he [Lewis] was, and who could speak more languages than Lewis could even fathom, was probably someone worth listening to… Someone whose faith was well founded. Right? After all, most of us probably would have to dedicate a lifetime to even begin reading the Bible in Hebrew. Tolkien probably would have it done and the Hebrew Bible memorized in a year. :/ He’d follow that up by writing the whole thing out in Farsi and Arabic, which he would’ve learned in his offtime during the times he WASN’T mastering Hebrew. *the mind wobbles*

Here are the languages Tolkien mastered and could both speak and write: Latin, French, German, Middle English, Old English, Finnish, Gothic, Greek, Italian, Old Norse, Spanish, Welsh, and Medieval Welsh. He also could speak and write in: Danish, Dutch, Lombardic, Norwegian, Russian, Serbian, Swedish and modern forms of other Germanic and Slavonic languages. He created the following languages himself: Elvish, Primitive Quendian (the proto-language), Common Eldarin, Quenya, Goldogrin, Telerin, Sindarin, Ilkorin, Nandorin, Avarin, Taliska, Adunaic, Soval Phare (Common Speech known as Westron in English), Dalish, Rohirric (representing Anglo-Saxon), Rhovanion (representing Gothic), Haladin, Dunlendish, Drug, Haradrim, Easterling, Khuzdul, Iglishmek, Entish, Valarin, Orcish, Black Speech (Sauron’s evil language), Naffarin, Gautisk (in which Tolkien’s name was spelled “Undarhruimenitupp” :P) and Mago/Magol…. And these are only the languages with full grammar and a vocabulary that we puny humans have written records of. He created many more incomplete and/or incomprehensible languages, and many documents that Tolkien wrote have still yet to be published in any form. Who knows what else was kicking around in Tolkien’s head, for all we know he knew and had created 50 more languages and had them all inside his brain… but never put pen to paper…. Absolutely insane.

Here is the FULL interview with JRR Tolkien first recorded in 1968! Tolkien died in 1973 at the age of 81 (he was born in 1892 as John Ronald Reuel Tolkien). Too bad no one ever had the foresight to record an interview of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis TOGETHER. Only imagine the fascinating conversations they must’ve had….
