Song of the Day – Sugar Coat It (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Intermission Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Sugarcoat It” from their 2001 album Intermission: The Greatest Hits. This song is track #18 of 19.

Sugar Coat It is a great tune, and is the final newly recorded piece of material the band ever released, it is song #18 of 19 on their Intermission Compilation album and is a new studio song along with “Chance”. I absolutely love this song and the sound is really interesting. Makes you crave for a new DC Talk album!

Sugar Coat It DC Talk Song Lyrics

Movin’ at the speed of sound
There has never been a lull in the motion
Conversations swirl around
Strangers questioning their devotion
Welcome to the world of talk shows
Where everybody seems to know

People talk and never listen
Come to their conclusions
So we’ll feed ’em with the spoon
That makes the medicine go down

Baby you got it
Baby we wrote it
Maybe you thought that we sugar coat it
Aint gonna hide it
Gotta expose it
Yeah, we’re gonna let our light shine

Standing on the stage of life
We are waiting for the final curtain
You can take a seat and watch tonight
But you’re gonna get more than you came for

Bam
And welcome to our jam
Where folks are getting down
The Jesus freaks from every part of this here town
You can try and ask us why
We came to this solution
Though words may fly
You can’t deny
It’s in the air tonight

Baby you got it
Baby we wrote it
Maybe you thought that we sugar coat it
Aint gonna hide it
Gotta expose it
Yeah, we’re gonna let our light shine

Boom
They thought we’d change our tune
They thought that we’d go bust
They thought we’d crumble like my grandma’s flaky crust
Kapow
up in the here and now
The truth is screaming BIG
A light so bright
Whether day or night
It can’t be hid

Baby you got it
Baby we wrote it
Aint gonna hide it
Yeah, we’re gonna let our love light shine

Baby you got it
Baby we wrote it
Maybe you thought that we sugar coat it
Aint gonna hide it
Gotta expose it
Yeah, we’re gonna let our light shine

Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love light shine
Your love light shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love light shine

Sugar coat it

About DC Talk Month
March 2013 is dedicated to the Christian rock pioneers DC Talk, arguably my favorite Christian CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) rock band and follows January 2013 which was Demon Hunter Month and February 2013 which was Becoming the Archetype Month. March will feature songs from most of dc Talk’s discography (1992’s Free At Last, 1995’s Jesus Freak, 1998’s Supernatural and 2000’s Intermission) featured daily throughout the month, one a day. Whether you like rock/alternative/hip-hop music, believe in God or not, check these songs out as you may be pleasantly surprised and hopefully you will discover some new-to-your-ears music to enjoy. DC Talk features lots of variety in their tunes, from hard rock to hip-hop to slow ballads that will pull on your heartstrings to singable power pop, so there will most certainly be something you’ll like. EPIC!

The Legend of Zelda Skyrule! Hahaha, absolutely epic!

I love to see Wind Waker link drawn in such a badass style. He just looks so cool in this movie-like poster. You also gotta love the name “Skyrule” lol, so awesome. Obviously it combines the words “Skyrim” and “Hyrule”. :D Very clever for whoever made this!

Here is a trailer for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Song of the Day – Jesus Is Just Alright (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Free At Last Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Jesus Is Just Alright” from their 1992 album Free At Last. This song is track #4 of 17.

Jesus Is Just Alright defines the Free At Last record and DC Talk’s early 90’s hip-hop sound. To me this is the quintessential song that shows off the band’s hip-hop roots before they switched to rock with Jesus Freak. This song is awesome, and still rocks to this day!

Jesus Is Just Alright DC Talk Song Lyrics

(chorus)
Jesus is still alright with me
Jesus is still alright, oh yeah
Jesus is still alright with me
Jesus is still alright

Toby Mac, and the Mac is back no slack
On a DC track that’s jacked, beyond comprehension
I believe that I failed to mention that
There’s a lack of recognition
When it comes to His position
Cause if Christ can’t be crossed over,
Then I’ll keep my beat up nova

(repeat chorus 1)

(chorus 2)
I don’t care what they may say
I don’t care what they may do
I don’t care what they may say
Jesus is still alright

Back in place, and I’m all up in your face
With a rhyme that I embrace, like a mother to her child
I’m kickin’ it Jesus style
To the ones that think they heard
I did use the “J” word
Cause I ain’t too soft to say it
Even if DJ’s don’t play it

do do do dupe dupem dupe dopem do (3x)
Jesus is still alright
[Oh, I’m hopin’ and I’m praying]

Jesus is still alright
Jesus still alright, oh yeah
Jesus is still alright
Jesus is still alright
[oh yeah]

(breakdown)
Jesus is alright, I know He’s alright
Jesus is alright, you know He’s alright
Jesus is alright, we know He’s alright
Jesus is alright, we know He’s alright

[Now we come to the pay off]

I’m down with the one that is known as the Son
Of the G to the O to the D never done
With the flow, in the know, on the go like a pro
Not for show cause I ain’t in the biz for the dough
Or the me, or the ray, all the dough’s gotta stay,
Cause I can’t, no I can’t, take it home anyway
Never trite when I write cause the Lord is my light
And His Word is my bond so ya know, He’s alright

(repeat choruses 1 and 2)

[think about it…]

Here is the awesome Jesus Is Just Alright Music Video (DC Talk) featuring all three of them getting their dance on in the middle of the desert! This is a funny video because it’s corny in that early 90s way, yet not because it’s taken seriously. But it’s funny to just see them dancing around. Overall a cool video. And holy crap Michael Tait is BUFF! :D

CPAC 2013 Paul Ryan Full Speech Video

Paul Ryan American Flag Photo

Very sad that Paul Ryan didn’t replace Joe Biden as Vice President.

Paul Ryan stepped onto the CPAC 2013 stage in this speech (full video).

He is the current House Budget Committee Leader (paraphrase) and Congressman from Wisconsin and the former 2012 Republican Vice Presidential nominee to Mitt Romney that you surely all remember well.

In this speech he speaks about the fiscal issues that America is facing and his plan to reverse our current course (which includes repealing Obamacare).

I love Paul Ryan and look forward to seeing him have a bright future. I hope that he will run again for President some day.

CPAC 2013 Rick Santorum Full Speech Video At Conservative Political Action Conference 40th Anniversary

Rick Santorum American Flag Photo

This guy would’ve made a GREAT President.

Rick Santorum gave a powerful and touching speech at CPAC 2013. You’ll remember former Senator Rick Santorum from Pennsylvania as one of the 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee’s who faced off fiercely against Mitt Romney and nearly won… earning second place to Mitt’s first (third went to Newt Gingrich) in the right to face-off against President Barack Obama.

During Rick Santorum’s speech he speaks passionately about life and the ideal’s of America, following a close death in the family just the day before his speech that greatly effected him and his loved ones. It’s an incredible speech, watch it!

Song of the Day – Colored People (DC Talk Month. Lyrics Included) From Jesus Freak Album

Today’s DC Talk Month Song of the Day is “Colored People” from their 1995 album Jesus Freak. This song is track #2 of 13.

Because DC Talk is a group composed of two white guys (Toby McKeehan and Kevin Max Smith) and a black guy (Michael Tait), i.e. “two honks and a negro” (to quote a song from their 1992 album Free At Last), race has always played an important part in DC Talk’s music. Naturally the rap/rock trio has a lot of passion for race issues, and being good friends of different colors, race has always been an important issue for them to tackle in their songs. Enter “Colored People”, a powerful song about the beauty to be found in races of different colors which is like God’s beautiful canvas of paints, tints and shades… which is a beautiful thing. A great song overall. I love how the song is boy joyful yet has a hint of sadness to the verses.

Colored People DC Talk Song Lyrics

Pardon me, your epidermis is showing, sir
I couldn’t help but note your shade of melanin
I tip my hat to the colorful arrangement
Cause I see the beauty in the tones of our skin

We’ve gotta come together
And thank the Maker of us all

[Chorus]
We’re colored people, and we live in a tainted place
We’re colored people, and they call us the human race
We’ve got a history so full of mistakes
And we are colored people who depend on a Holy Grace

A piece of canvas is only the beginning for
It takes on character with every loving stroke
This thing of beauty is the passion of an Artist’s heart
By God’s design, we are a skin kaleidoscope

We’ve gotta come together,
Aren’t we all human after all?

[Chorus]

Ignorance has wronged some races
And vengeance is the Lord’s
If we aspire to share this space
Repentance is the cure

Well, just a day in the shoes of a color blind man
Should make it easy for you to see
That these diverse tones do more than cover our bones
As a part of our anatomy

[Chorus]

We’re colored people, and they call us the human race
[Oh, colored people]
We’re colored people, and we all gotta share this space
[Yeah we’ve got to come together somehow]
We’re colored people, and we live in a tainted world
[Red and yellow, black and white]
We’re colored people, every man, woman, boy, and girl
[Colored people, colored people, colored people, colored people, yeah]
