The Great Fall and Dichotomy by Becoming the Archetype are two equally amazing tracks. The former from 2007’s The Physics of Fire and the latter from is the self-titled track (and one of the most amazing song ever. Period) from BtA’s third full-length album Dichotomy.

I thought that these songs went well together because both of them talk about the Fall of Man, and both of them seem to complement each other well in theme. The Great Fall is one of my favorite tracks from Physics of Fire with an absolutely epic intro (I absolutely love the part leading up to the growl of “CORRUPTION!”) and this line “In exchange for the keys to knowledge/Mankind gave up their immortal souls” is one of my favorite lines on the entire album (especially the way its growled), while Dichotomy is an absolute masterwork. Every single aspect of this song is utter perfection, including the fact that Ryan Clark of Demon Hunter sings the incredible slow section of the song. This song is pure, utter, metal bless, and impresses from the incredible, thought-provoking lyrics to the last pulverizing note. A song that makes you think, rocks your face off, and soars in both melodic beauty and epic sound… If any song can get a perfect 10 from me, it is this one!

Metal Song of the Day – Autopsy (Becoming the Archetype Month. Lyrics Included) From Physics of Fire Album

Autopsy by Becoming the Archetype is an the third track from 2007’s The Physics of Fire, BtA’s sophomore album. This second album took the band in an entirely new direction, with a much more refined sound, their first metal singing, and was their first concept album, dealing with matters of sin and evil represented as Ice, with the Holy Spirit being the fire of one’s soul, allowing them to break free of the chains that bind them.

I absolutely love this song, and the lyrics are incredible. It starts off with a bang, really fast pulverizing metal with growled vocals perfectly sung, and never lets up through. This song has an incredible concept, and sums the overall theme of this album nicely with this one line: “If a flame once burned within this shell/Set me on fire one last time.” The lyrics are awesome in this song because the song talks about what it’s like to open a person up, physically, but relates it to the spiritual awakeness or death found within one’s soul. Totally metal and totally EPIC! The “SET ME ON, FIRE!” section at the end caps an absolutely incredible song up nicely.

Metal Song of the Day – Breathing Light (Becoming the Archetype Month. Lyrics Included) From Celestial Completion Album

Breathing Light by Becoming the Archetype is today’s Becoming the Archetype Month Metal Song of the Day. This song is track 11, the final track from BtA’s fourth full-length album, 2011’s Celestial Completion.

Breathing Light is one of my least favorite songs off their entire catalog, yet at the same time I have immense respect for what the song is. This song is the most ballad-like, singable song that the band has ever recorded, and takes their sound in a completely different direction. Not that it isn’t heavy, because it is and it has deep growls, but it also has a pretty amazing singing chorus. It’s just not my taste. This is one of my brother’s favorite Becoming the Archetype songs, and it is indeed a good one. Just not one that I typically listen to compared to their other stuff. Either way, YOU will most likely enjoy it! :)
