Song of the Day – I Play Dead (Demon Hunter Month. Lyrics Included) From Summer of Darkness Album (2004)

I Play Dead by Demon Hunter is a song from their second full-length album, 2004’s Summer of Darkness.

Powerful. If you had to sum up “I Play Dead” in one word, that would be my choice. This song will shake you to the core, the way the phenomenal lyrics are said absolutely grips you and leaves you gasping by the end. The words truly cut you to the bone, and this song still gives me chills even today. Everything about the song is unnerving, and done in that twisted style that only Demon Hunter can pull off. It builds and builds to a perfect crescendo. If you aren’t left pondering your life by the end of this song, check your pulse. You may already be dead.

Lyrics:

I play dead again…
It just might stop before the end
If I pretend…
You may not see the pain I’m in
So close to me…
Can’t tell what I’m supposed to be
Don’t stop to breathe…
Can’t bear to think what you might see
This tourniquet
These blessed hands around my head…
So I can keep from…

BLEEDING!
I’ve got to find a way to stop before it STARTS
Finding its way through my veins right to my HEART
I never thought it something everyone could see
And it KILLS WITHIN ME

BLEEDING!
I’ve got to find a way to stop before it STARTS
Finding its way through my veins right to my HEART
I never thought it something everyone could see
And it KILLS

I won’t
I won’t leave without a trace
I won’t
Be erased
I won’t
I won’t leave without a trace
I won’t
Be erased

It’s in my head…
I can’t forget what you once said…
The words I read…
The fractured soul that I can’t mend
Right here with me…
Killing the void I used to be
Remembering…
Through fading sparks of memory
Two broken hands…
Lift seven wounds and fight to stand
To keep the lungs from…

CAVING!
I’ve got to find a way to stop before it STARTS
Finding its way through my veins right to my HEART
I never thought it something everyone could see
And it KILLS WITHIN ME

CAVING!
I’ve got to find a way to stop before it STARTS
Finding its way through my veins right to my HEART
I never thought it something everyone could see
And it KILLS

I won’t
I won’t leave without a trace
I won’t
Be erased
I won’t
I won’t leave without a trace
I won’t
Be erased

Turning
It’s moving
Escaping
Right through me

I care not.
I bleed not.
For You…
I believe not.

I. Play. Dead.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the sequel to FFXIII (2009) and Final Fantasy XIII-2 (January 2012), will be released this Fall 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 announced developer and publisher Square Enix. Fall will be a worldwide release.

A boss fight perhaps?

The new trailer showcases Luxerion, the divine city of light, which is one of the four regions of Nova Chrysalia (previously known as Novus Partus). Also released today are new screenshots that reveal a new character, Lumina — a mysterious girl whose unpredictable nature wreaks havoc everywhere she goes.

Key new features of the game include a New Game Plus system that encourages players to replay the game to do and see everything, a more traditional action-game combat system that uses the Final Fantasy staple APB (Active Time Battle) system and Paradigm Shift but bringing them into an Action RPG style, and the tying up of story ends from previous games with the final entry in the FFXIII franchise.

Too Human Xbox Live Content And Digital Download (Xbox 360) No Longer Available Following Recall. Future Collector’s Item

Too Human Gameplay Screenshot Xbox 360

Too Human for Xbox 360, released in 2008. Recalled in 2012, 2013.

Too Human will become a collector’s item soon as the game was recalled after developer Silicon Knights lost a lawsuit. Now the digital download of the game via Xbox Live Games On Demand for Xbox 360, along with all the digital content on Xbox Live Marketplace (demo, themes, videos, screenshots) for Too Human has vanished from the service. Too Human was released in August 2008 to average/above average reviews.

The game was an epic failure, and languished in development hell for nearly as long as Duke Nukem Forever, or so it seemed. Too Human originally started development as a four-disc epic RPG PS1 game in 1999! Here is what the game looked like in these Too Human PS1 Screenshots from E3 1999 (see video below to watch the PS1 game in action! And above for the Xbox 360 version).

Too Human then moved to GameCube in 2000 after Nintendo partnered with Silicon Knights and made them essentially a second party development studio of Nintendo; leading to great games like Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem (considered Silicon Knights best game) and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. Here is what Too Human looked like on the GameCube in these Too Human GameCube Screenshots!

Nintendo sold Silicon Knights to Microsoft (along with rare) in 2005, at which point Too Human development shifted to Xbox 360 in 2006. Finally the game was released, as a planned trilogy, in 2008. The game had many issues, received critical reviews, and sold poorly, thus marking the end of the decade-long Too Human saga, a game in development for an insane NINE YEARS. Suffice to say, the rest of the trilogy will most likely never see the light of day.

Here is what the original PlayStation version of Too Human looked like in 1999! Amazing, eh. Too Human PS1 gameplay video ftw!

The retail version of Too Human for Xbox 360 has already been recalled, which means you can only officially get your hands on Too Human second-hand or via entertainment exchange stores or websites like ebay, Amazon, GameFly, GameTZ, Goozex and the like. This will make Too Human a definite collector’s item in the future. The court ordered that copies of Too Human be recalled and destroyed per terms of the lawsuit’s verdict, along with any other games that used Epic’s Unreal Engine, including X-Men Destiny, another game that will become a collector’s item so try to get your hands on a copy!

It also makes Too Human (and X-Men Destiny) very desirable games in which to have earned all the Xbox 360 Achievements. Be sure to do so if you can still gain access to Silicon Knights RPG epics! I definitely plan on doing just that!

Too Human Synopsis:

As the cybernetic god Baldur, you are thrust into the midst of an ongoing battle that threatens the existence of mankind. An ancient machine presence has forced the god’s hand. In the first part of a trilogy, Baldur is charged with defending humanity from an onslaught of monstrous war machines bent on the eradication of human life.

In Too Human, players experience a nonstop barrage of action powered by the integration of melee and ranged firearms combat and fueled by breathtaking visuals enabled by the Xbox 360. Battles unfold in awesome scale as players engage with vast numbers of enemies.

Key Features of Too Human Include:

Through the use of an intuitive combat system, Too Human delivers gameplay that is easy to learn and rewarding to master. Pandora’s Tower USA Release Date In America Is Spring 2013 For Wii Thanks To Xseed. Final Game In Operation Rainfall Trilogy. The Last Story Became Biggest Selling Game In XSeed History!

Pandora's Tower USA Release Date Spring 2013 For Wii By Xseed Games

It’s finally coming officially! Spring 2013 in America for Wii by XseeD! THANK YOU!

Xseed will release Pandora’s Tower for Wii in America this Spring 2013, announced the RPG publisher. XSeed Games was responsible for The Last Story release date of August 14 2012 last year, which went on to become XSeed’s best-selling game of ALL TIME. Now, Pandora’s Tower may very well be the last game ever released for Wii; and a sure-fire collector’s item!

Thanks to the tremendous sales success of The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles, and the infinite push of the Operation Rainfall campaign of fans who clamored, begged, pleaded, worked, promoted and pushed for the American release of these three Japanese RPG-style titles to be released; XSeed has proudly announced that they WILL finally publish Pandora’s Tower in America!

This is a huge win for American gamers, RPG/adventure fans, and a true example of the power of the consumer, who pushed for change, went out and bought the two previous Operation Rainfall Wii titles (Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story) in big numbers, and finally got the attention of publishers who decided to put the resources into making it happen!

“It’s fantastic to be bringing such a highly-anticipated title like Pandora’s Tower to such a vocal fan base,” said XSEED President Shinichi Suzuki. “North American gamers have been very patient in waiting for this game to be released, and we’re confident they will be pleased when they get their hands on the title.”

Please create a storm of support for XSeed Games! Give your thanks to the XSeed Facebook page, the official XSeed Pandora’s Tower USA Facebook Page, and email Xseed to tell them how much you appreciate them choosing to bring Pandora’s Tower, officially, to the U.S.!

Even since the beginning of the Operation Rainfall movement (which has now grown into a full-blown website devoted to covering the great games and RPGs that get lost between the cracks), Pandora’s Tower was always considered to be the least likely game of the Japanese trio to get released. Indeed, since late last year, everyone moved on and assumed it would never actually get released in the States. Thankfully that has changed, and hopefully it will become another huge seller for XSeed!

I also hold out hope that XSeed and Nintendo will come to their senses, and release all three titles in an Operation Rainfall trilogy pack for Wii U. These games deserve to be played, and the ailing Wii cannot do them justice. They deserve a re-release! This would also double as greatly increasing the Wii U’s stable of RPGs in the Wii U game library, which remains pretty much non-existent right now. If these were to be the first major RPGs released for Wii U, that’d go a long way towards making the WiiU a fantastic RPG machine.

Pandora’s Tower Synopsis:

Developed in Japan by Ganbarion, Pandora’s Tower takes the classic fairytale theme of a maiden in distress and adds a violent twist, with the protagonist setting out to slay over a dozen giant monsters and collect their flesh in order to free his beloved from an evil curse. The agreement with Nintendo grants XSEED Games exclusive publishing rights to Pandora’s Tower in North America.

A tale of unfortunate circumstances, Pandora’s Tower opens in the Kingdom of Elyria, where an unassuming singer named Elena succumbs to a wretched curse during a festival performance. Bearing an arcane mark on her back, she starts transforming into a savage monster, causing the town guards to attempt to kill her in order to prevent it. A young ex-mercenary named Aeron, whose heart has forever been pledged to Elena, whisks her away in the nick of time – and with the help of a mysterious witch named Mavda, he learns what must be done to avert her wretched fate. He must descend into The Scar, a massive chasm tied down by twelve chains connected to a floating island in its center, atop which sit thirteen interconnected towers. There, he must use his sword and a sacred chain to battle his way through each tower and extract the flesh of the boss “masters” that dwell within, which Elena must consume in order to reverse her ongoing transformation. But the clock is ticking! The longer Aeron takes to vanquish each beast, the less human Elena becomes, affecting her character and the game’s final outcome in a profound manner. Time is of the essence…

Song of the Day – My Throat Is An Open Grave (Demon Hunter Month. Lyrics Included + Acoustic) From Self-Titled Album (2002)

My Throat Is An Open Grave by Demon Hunter is a song from their first, debut full-length album, 2002’s self-titled “Demon Hunter”.

One of Demon Hunter’s most acclaimed ballads, a critical hit and among their most beloved songs, Demon Hunter’s first ever “all-singing” tune hails from the band’s 2002 debut self-titled album. And boy did it set the bar high. My Throat Is An Open Grave (taken from a verse in Psalms of the Bible “Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit”) is bar-none one of the best songs Demon Hunter has ever written. The vocals, verses, lyrics, music and tone in the song are amazing throughout. It’s an emotional song and has a really weighty feel to it that elevates the song to very high levels (as well as an awesome intro). The song is also very unique, and features that harsh, twisted tone that Demon Hunter is known for, even without growled vocals. Now that is a feat indeed. The chorus is absolutely amazing as well and it ends beautifully.

Lyrics:

We lay face
Down in pale solitude
To save face
We pulled our walls in front of you
To the same place
Where we danced in front of you
We fell from grace
And watched the hope fall from your face

This isn’t me I used to say
All the love was so gone
It feels good to be alive
I’ve been dead for so long

And all those broken promises
I can’t face
Afraid if someone notices
I lose my place
Fractured, broken, paralyzed
I need some space
Tear me open, analyze

This isn’t me I used to say
All the love was so gone
It feels good to be alive
I’ve been dead for so long

Wake up screaming
I’m awake and dreaming
And I won’t stop breathing
‘Til my heart stops beating

This isn’t me
I used to say
All the love was so gone

All the love was so gone

It feels good to be alive
I’ve been dead for so long.

———

Additionally, here is the acoustic version of this incredible song, which was featured as a bonus on the special edition version of Demon Hunter’s The Triptych album, alongside acoustic versions of “My Heartstrings Come Undone” and “The Tide Began to Rise”. The acoustic version of My Throat Is An Open Grave is just as beautiful as you’d imagine it being, although I prefer the original version personally. Both are great.

WatchMePlay Zelda: Majora’s Mask Part 8 – Mysterious Scarecrow Song Reference! Magic Beans GET! Heart Pieces GET! Deku King Pictograph GET!

Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask Wandering Scarecrow Mysterious Song Screenshot

A mysterious song… whatever could the Wandering Scarecrow be referring to?

In part 8 of WatchMePlay The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask we meet the Deku King!

We start out directly after collecting our first Magic Bean from underneath the Deku Palace; following the interesting stealth section where we must avoid getting seen by Mad Deku’s. One of the paths leads us to a Piece of Heart, whereas the other leads to the Magic Bean Salesman inside a hole (called a “grotto”).

Now that we picked up the ability to officially plant Magic Beans, we are able to plant a Magic Leaf on the side of the Deku Palace (you must plant the magic bean in soft soil, a small hole in the ground, and then pour water on it using an Empty Bottle) which gives us the ability to explore the upper portions of Deku Palace by using the hovering/floating Magic Leaf as an elevator to the second story. However time ends before we are able to explore the upper portion, so that will come next video.

We find the Woodfall Temple Fairy Fountain full of scattered Pink Fairy, which is located inside a cave in Woodfall.

I also try to figure out the “mysterious song” that the Wandering Scarecrow tells you about… but I fail… thinking that the song he’s talking about must be played by doubling the notes of the Scarecrow’s Song or playing the Scarecrow’s song backward…. alas, that is not it. But don’t worry, eventually what the Scarecrow is referring to will dawn on me!

I get another Piece of Heart located on top of the roof at the Southern Swamp where the Pictograph guy is, by giving the Deku in front the Land Title Deed from Clock Town. And I get another Piece of Heart by taking a Pictograph of the Deku King and giving it to the Pictograph guy! Huzzah!

Metal Song of the Day – Shallow Water (Demon Hunter Month. Lyrics Included) From World Is A Thorn Album (2010)

Shallow Water by Demon Hunter is a song from their fifth full-length album, 2010’s The World Is A Thorn.

Shallow Water (great name) also hails from The World Is A Thorn, and features some of the best lines on the album. The verses on this song are absolutely amazing, I love the opening line, “Remember the threat / From which it was said / You will reap every seed that you sow” Gives me chills even today if you think about it. I also love the Summer of Darkness-style light scream that opens the song up, and the chorus is beautiful. I love when they finally mix it up towards the end and give new variations on the tune that plays throughout the song, and then they close it out with a truly epic scream. Overall this is one of my favorite songs on World Is A Thorn, an overall incredible album. “And now we have seen what complacency brings as the blind are assuming the lead / Dig deep in the hole where you buried your soul in the river from where it bleeds” ranks among my favorite Demon Hunter lines of ALL TIME. And that is HIGH PRAISE. Such an awesome song!

Lyrics:

Remember the threat from which it was said
“You will reap every seed that you sow”
And the tomb where you lay is the bed that you made
Be still in the pain that you wrote
See now, every scar is a choice you make
Every choice is a vow you take
Take pity upon your fate, you coward

Sleepwalk through heaven’s call, no forest for the trees
Unlearn every step you take, it’ll bring you to your knees
Tread

Shallow water
Safe from the weight, the burden of sacrifice
Sons and daughters, pray for the rain
May it redeem their eyes

And now we have seen what complacency brings
As the blind are assuming the lead
Dig deep in the hole where you buried your soul,
In the river from where it bleeds

Take now your eternal stand before it pulls you in

Metal Song of the Day – Feel As Though You Could (Demon Hunter Month. Lyrics Included) From World Is A Thorn Album (2010)

Feel As Though You Could by Demon Hunter is a song from their fifth full-length album, 2010’s The World Is A Thorn.

Feel As Though You Could is my favorite song on Thorn, and is a criminally overlooked song due to the complexity of the name. Even I often forget the title because it is so long and such an unusual name for a song. It’s not an easy one to remember. The lyrics on this song are absolutely phenomenal, and this is a perfect song from the opening riffs all the way through the first chorus. It loses a bit of steam after that and I’m not a fan of the latter half, but the chorus is still one of the most badass that Demon Hunter has ever composed. The lyrics are just so flat out awesome, the song is so heavy, and it hits you like a ton of bricks while shining the Light of Christ from beginning to end. No one does it like Demon Hunter. Gotta love it.

Lyrics:

Rebellion
Oh cheap thrills and vacant youth
Carry out your own will
Shovel deep and bury truth
Social stain, punk wreck, mother’s own defect
Sing that song you know so well
Sing it one foot in Hell
Eyes wide black
Turn your back
Oh, how the foolish will see
How every man he will bleed

The vultures circle, halo of the dead
Another vicious cycle, swallow what you’re fed
And now the vultures circle, halo of the dead
Another vicious cycle
Be true to your dissent

Somehow feel as though you could
Somehow, in all your petty suffering
Burn this down

Rejection of weak trends and fake hate
This is what you’re fighting for? Some fools mistake
I will devour you
I’ll overpower you
Rise from the ashes, screaming eternity

Ignite upon these words and breathe defeat
Your shallow deeds make Hell for wood and stone, flesh and bone, this alone
